BWW Interviews: Florence Henderson
by Joseph F. Panarello - February 5, 2010
It's hard to pinpoint the exact moment when Florence Henderson became a household name. It was certainly through the media of television, but was it her numerous appearances on the then-popular variety shows? Perhaps it was because of the proliferation of commercials she did for Polident and Wesson Oil; the latter in which she helped coin the phrase "Wessonality". Obviously her long stint as Mrs. Carol Brady in "The Brady Bunch" played a major role in her becoming not only a name people easily recognized, but a talent that has genuinely been appreciated by different generations down through the years. This 2008 Tony and Drama Desk award winning revival comes direct from it’s continuing run on Broadway and is directed by Seattle favorite Bartlett Sher (who was one of the aforementioned award winners). So with all that in it’s favor, it’s surprising that the show did not wow. It’s good but not great. (more...)

REVIEW: Kelli O'Hara Performs Exquisite O.C. Cabaret Debut, Ends 1/24
by Michael L. Quintos - January 24, 2010
Add "Cabaret Queen" to this woman's long list of accomplishments. When three-time Tony nominee Kelli O'Hara steps in front of an audience and sings, you feel like you're in the presence of a true star. During her much too short cabaret concert at the Orange County Performing Arts Center's Samueli Theater, O'Hara dazzled with a mix of familiar Broadway favorites, original songs and personal anecdotes that collectively illustrated her journey towards becoming America's Next Top Broadway Superstar. And if these series of concerts are of any indication, such a title is truly deserved. She possesses a voice so pure that notes of any kind sound beautiful and effortless. (more...)

The intimate series of concerts will feature not only some familiar Broadway hits but also a few songs close to the singer-actor's heart, some of which can be found on her debut album Wonder of the World. She will also sprinkle the show with a few stories and anecdotes from her life: from her early childhood in Oklahoma to her debut on the Great White Way.
