Horton the Elephant, the Cat in the Hat and even the Grinch are coming to town. The Jewish Community Center of Dallas' Performing Arts Program presents the pop musical Seussical Jr. Comprised of two casts with actors ages 6 to 18, the Junior Cast performs Thursday, March 31 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, April 3 at 2 and 7 p.m.; the Senior Cast performs Thursday, April 7 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, April 10 at 2 and 7 p.m. All performances will take place in The J's Zale Auditorium at 7900 Northaven Road in Dallas. Tickets are $18 for adults and $12 for children and seniors in advance. Tickets can be purchased online.
The Firehouse Theatre will present the regional premiere of Billy Elliot the Musical this summer. The Production Committee has decided to move the previously slated summer musicals (Seussical and The Music Man) to a future season in order to take advantage of this exciting opportunity. The Firehouse Theatre's production of Billy Elliot will be brought to life by an award-winning creative team led by Derek Whitener and Rebecca Lowrey. Gallery Players continues its 49th season with the Seussical, the fantastic family musical based on the books of Dr. Seuss. Tony winners Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty (Lucky Stiff, My Favorite Year, Once On The Island and Ragtime) have lovingly brought to life all of our favorite characters, with a rich and dazzling score to create an almost entirely sung-through show that transforms the theatre into the Jungle of Nool, the Circus McGurkus, the invisible world of the Whos, and beyond. Seussical will be helmed by Barrie Gelles, with musical direction by Trevor M. Pierce. Opening night will be January 30th at 7:30PM.
