Unruly Women and the Strand Theater Company proudly presents an adaptation by Francesca Chilcote and Laurie Wolf of William Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew. Shrewing of the Tamed subverts the traditional conceits of Shakespeare's classic comedy, challenging gender norms and power structures by flipping the show on its head. By grounding the play in the 'Induction,' Shakespeare's original framing for the text (which actually is in a bar!) this adaptation irreverently strips away all the excesses of traditional productions, finding the joy, pain, and absurdity in what is one of Shakespeare's most problematic comedies.
The American Shakespeare Factory proudly announces the latest salvo in their ongoing war against boring classical theater, as the Bard's controversial farce about the eternal war between the sexes is brought screaming and kicking into the modern-day American South.

Join us for the first comedy Shakespeare ever wrote. Watch and laugh as close friends Valentine and Proteus both pursue the Duke of Milan's beautiful daughter, Sylvia. See how Crab, 'the sourest-natured dog that lives', provides one of the first examples of the animal stealing the show. Don't miss this rarely produced comedy.

Continuing the tradition of bringing Shakespeare alive and accessible in the open air, Top Dog Theatre returns with a fine evening of Shakespearean entertainment and comedy. Set within a dream, several stories are told simultaneously with interconnected, layered plots and sub-plots. Baptista Minola refuses to allow his youngest daughter to be courted until her older sister, Kate, is safely wed. The problem being, that Kate is sharp-tongued, ill-tempered and shrewish. Although she has a considerable dowry, no suitors come to call on Kate - until Petruchio arrives on the scene.
