La MaMa's "Puppet Series 3" Set for 10/8-11/29

La MaMa will present a trio of adult puppet theater productions that are brimming with international art forms in 'La MaMa Puppet Series 3' from October 8 to October 25, 2009. The series will open with the newest work by Theodora Skipitares, 'The Traveling Players present The Women Of Troy,' from October 8 to 25.

YALE REPERTORY THEATRE (James Bundy, Artistic Director; Victoria Nolan, Managing Director) announces complete casting and the creative team for the world premiere of POP!, a new musical with book and lyrics by Maggie-Kate Coleman and music by Anna K. Jacobs, directed by Mark Brokaw. POP! will play for 22 performances only, November 27-December 19. Opening Night is Thursday, December 3.

The world-premiere musical production of Bonnie & Clyde at La Jolla Playhouse features Laura Osnes as Bonnie, Tony-nominee Stark Sands whose run of Twelfth Night ends this weekend, as Clyde and the Academy Award-nominated (Georgia) and Emmy-winning (Amber Waves,George Wallace) Mare Winningham as Bonnie's mother. Also set for the cast are Melissa Van Der Schyff as Bonnie's sister-in-law (BIG RIVER, PIPPIN), and Chris Peluso as Deputy Ted Hinton (MAMMA MIA!). Additional casting news is expected shortly.

Czechoslovak-American Marionette Theater will perform 'Twelfth Night (or What You Will),' the timeless Shakespearean tale of mistaken identity and misplaced matrimony, November 12 to 29, 2009 as part of La MaMa Puppet Series 3. This three-tea-tray production, adapted and directed by Vít Horejš, will feature 16 eight-inch toy marionettes and three (more or less) live performers.

Real-life married couple Paige Davis and Patrick Page will star in a special engagement of I Do! I Do!, the classic Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt musical based on The Fourposter by Jan de Hartog, in The Old Globe's new Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre. The well-loved classic, by the creators of The Fantasticks, spans five decades in the life of a married couple - from the nervousness of their wedding day to the wisdom of old age. I Do! I Do! will run Dec. 11 - 20, 2009. La MaMa will present a trio of adult puppet theater productions that are brimming with international art forms in 'La MaMa Puppet Series 3' from October 8 to October 25, 2009. The series will open with the newest work by Theodora Skipitares, 'The Traveling Players present The Women Of Troy,' from October 8 to 25. The piece is based on the text of Euripides and the words of incarcerated women on New York's Riker's Island. From October 29 to November 8, Aphids Puppet Theatre of Australia will perform 'A Quarreling Pair,' three miniature puppet plays inspired by the work of the same name by American avant garde writer Jane Bowles. From November 12 to 29, Czechoslovak-American Marionette Theatre will perform Shakespeare's 'Twelfth Night' on three trays with three puppeteers and 22 eight-inch actors. The Series is curated by Denise Greber.
