The next leg of Mendocino Theatre Company's 2016 theatrical road trip takes the audience down memory lane with a revival of A. R. Gurney's Pulitzer-nominated play, The Dining Room, directed by Bob Cohen.

Originally performed by MTC in 1984, The Dining Room features six actors that portray a wide array of diverse characters in 18 overlapping scenes taking place in a dining room--the archetypal family gathering place where food is consumed and ideas are exchanged. The scenes move quickly through time and space, examining community, oppression, progress, and the comical dysfunction of our day-to-day lives. They are in turn hilarious, earnest, and poignant.

The Dining Room features Sandra Hawthorne (who appeared in the 1984 production), Nicole Traber, Marje Artly, Oasis Hasten, Brian O'Connor and Steven Jordan on a stunning set designed by Diane Larson.

It opens on September 15th, playing Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays at 8pm and select Sundays at 2pm through October 23rd on the Mendocino Theatre Company stage at 45200 Little Lake Road on the campus of the Mendocino Art Center. Tickets are available online at mendocinotheatre.org or by calling the box office, 707-937-4477.
