Opera "Snow Maiden", with its pagan cult poetry, epic power of the merger between man and nature, divinely intoxicating hymn to the beauty and love of Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov considered his best creation. "Snow Maiden" strikes a surprisingly sensitive, loving reproduction paintings of folk life, rites of ancient paganism, miraculously folk tales.
In May of 1880, "in this Russian village" Stel?vo, under the Arc, he settled with his family in the summer Rimsky-Korsakov, in love with the story "Snow Maiden".
