That we, directors, caught in the ballet "Romeo and Juliet"? First of all first-class music by Sergei Prokofiev and dramaturgical fundamental principle of the tragedy by William Shakespeare. In this work, in our opinion, ingeniously solved not only the theme of love, but also the theme of hatred. This last, in its modern philosophy. Traditions, conventions and prejudices of today may become an obstacle to communication between people, and sometimes lead to tragedy.

The ballet by Sergei Prokofiev's "Romeo and Juliet" has been accessed many choreographers, stage history of this work is extensive and interesting. In his own work on the production, we, together with the conductor of the performance E.Kolobovym sought to return ballet theater score composer in her author's presentation. This also applies to the orchestration and recovery bills, and remove from the score of repetitions, it brought to the directors and violate its integrity.

Second, what we wanted to work on the show - it was clear that ballet audiences without reading the libretto that during the term of the audience sympathize with the characters, rather than transcribed simultaneously staging, not looking in his mind comparisons with the original. In the drama, many plot moves are explained in the text, we are able to solve them only choreographed, and to determine whether it is us - to judge the audience.

And I want to mention one thing. We are convinced that Shakespeare should be put on the Shakespearean, keeping the style of the era, with its richness of imagery, emotion. All this dictates the appropriate imaginative solution performance. As in the design of the artist I.Sumbatashvili and plastic in its reading of the ballet tradition, we compared the prim fathers Montagues and Capulets, prosaic bytovizma nurse and servants and romantic poetry protagonists.

A major role as a full-fledged acting face, we will be the people. We want the audience to liking to each character, sympathetically treated as the deaths of Mercutio and the deaths of "noble" Tybalt, as the suffering of the parents of Romeo and Juliet, and the tragic death of young heroes. All of them, in our opinion, are worthy of love, they might love each other, but militant alienation, with pressing conventions, prejudices did not allow them to connect.
