The Stanis?aw Moniuszko Competition which takes place in Warsaw every three years is, first and foremost, a chance for young artists who have the opportunity of presenting their talents before a jury consisting of eminent representatives of the world of music.
Initiated in 1992 by Maria Fo?tyn – a great singer but also an excellent director and a tireless propagator of Stanis?aw Moniuszko’s music – the Competition since its inception also has been playing a great role in the preservation and promotion around the world not only of the Moniuszko legacy but also of all the Polishvocal music literature.
The Competition’s twenty years flourished with many excellent voices – among its laureates and finalists were e.g.: Aleksandra Kurzak, Wioletta Chodowicz, Urszula Kryger, Ma?gorzata Walewska, Marcin Bronikowski, and Mariusz Kwiecie? – Poles who triumph on opera stages and concert halls all over the world.
