Chicago Shakespeare Theater (CST) presents William Shakespeare's towering epic King Lear, directed by CST Founder and Artistic Director Barbara Gaines and featuring Chicago theater legend Larry Yando in the title role. A wrenching story of love, loss and reconciliation, the unraveling of an imperious king has fascinated audiences for more than 400 years. Gaines brings audiences a King Lear for our times, especially relevant as today's generation wrestles with the harrowing effects of aging on loved ones. Jonathan Broadbent will star as De Lorde alongside Paul Chequer (Ratineau), Matthew Pearson (Binet), Robert Portal (Paulais), Emily Raymond (Maxa) and Andy Williams (Maurey) in Theatre Royal Plymouth's revival of Grand Guignol. Written by Carl Grose and directed by Simon Stokes, Grand Guignol will return to The Drum from 9 - 18 October before heading to Southwark Playhouse from 23 October - 22 November 2014.

A Noise Within (ANW), the acclaimed classical repertory theatre company, inaugurates its 2014-2015 REVOLUTIONary season with The Tempest by William Shakespeare. Directed by Timothy Douglas in his ANW debut, the show opens tonight, September 13 and runs through Saturday, November 22, 2014. This will be the third production of The Tempest for A Noise Within, which also mounted the play in 1993 and 2006; going against the grain in true revolutionary form, Prospero will be cast with a woman in the role, ANW favorite Deborah Strang.

celebration of its 20th Season, Frog & Peach Theatre Company has announced their fall production, William Shakespeare's most deranged tragedy TITUS ANDRONICUS which will star TV and Broadway actor Greg Mullavey (TV: Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman, Nickelodeon's iCarly; Broadway: Romantic Comedy opposite Mia Farrow, Neil Simon's Rumors; and The Soap Myth with Roundabout Theater Company). Throughout two thirds of Bill Cain's political thriller EQUIVOCATION, a confused Shagspeare (known to us otherwise as Shakespeare and played by Ted Barton) keeps asking questions and getting answers that don't make sense. Finally a circumspect Father Garnet (Franc Ross) tells him to look for the question beneath the question and suddenly the pieces of the puzzle start to fall into place.

The Shakespeare Theatre Company (STC) has selected John Hurt, Stacy Keach and Dame Diana Rigg as the 2014 recipients of The William Shakespeare Award for Classical Theatre (Will Award), which recognizes artists who have made significant contributions to classical theatre in America. The Beech Street Foundation will be awarded the Sidney Harman Award for Philanthropy in the Arts. The awards will be presented at the Harman Center for the Arts Annual Gala on Sunday, October 5, 2014, hosted by STC at Sidney Harman Hall (610 F Street NW) and the National Building Museum (440 G Street NW).
