Theatre Development Fund, the not-for-profit service organization for the performing arts, will honor three of the organization's "Unsung Heroes" - Ted Chapin, Jeffrey Gural and Robert Zukerman at TDF's Gala on Monday, June 15 at the Edison Ballroom (240 West 47th Street). TDF is honoring these "heroes," as they have assisted the organization in fulfilling its mission of supporting works of artistic merit and helping to make theatre accessible to all.

On Saturday, April 25, NYC Parks and Disney hosted the 8th Annual Street Games event, a celebration of outdoor sports and classic games from the 60s and 70s, in Thomas Jefferson Park on 114th Street and First Avenue. NYC Parks Commissioner Mitchell J. Silver, FAICP joined Council Member Melissa Mark-Viverito along with ABC News anchor Rob Nelson in welcoming this annual event.

The Gallery Players announces EVITA, the final musical of their 48th Season. With music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Tim Rice, this epic musical is directed by Mark Harborth (Rent, Dreamgirls), choreographed by Elyse Daye Hart (Dreamgirls, A Little Night Music), with music direction by Emily Croome. Carman Napier (Next to Normal) fills the title role of the Argentinian legend, with Dale Sampson (Rent) as Che, and Jonathan Mesisca making his Gallery debut as Juan Peron. Ieri, dopo lunghe peripezie, sono finalmente riuscito a vedere 'INTO THE WOODS', il film di Rob Marshall tratto dall'omonimo musical di Stephen Sondheim e prodotto dalla Walt Disney.
Che dire? Senza dubbio il libretto e la musica reggono piuttosto bene la pellicola, ma se si fosse trattato di un film qualsiasi direi che non mi ha trasmesso niente.

Casting is now complete for Disney and Cameron Mackintosh's musical MARY POPPINS, set to open tonight, April 24. Directed and designed by Tom Thayer, with choreography by Philadelphia choreographer Jenn Rose, lighting design by Noel Rennerfeldt, flying effects by ZFX, costumes by Premiere Clothing and Debby Dowlen, hats by Blanche's Place, and sound sequencing by The MT Pit, the cast will feature local youth in the roles of Michael and Jane. Nate Miller and Kylan Ritchie will play one set of children, while Riley Jenkins and Virginia Richardson will double during the run of the show.
