The Boston International Kids Film Festival (BIKFF), now in its third year is taking place November 6-8, 2015 at the Seaport World Trade Center. Designed for moviegoers of all ages, the festival will showcase features, shorts and student-made films from around the world. This year's comedies, fantasies, and documentaries will cover tough topics with extraordinary sensitivity and imagination.

Music Director Joana Carneiro and Berkeley Symphony perform the U.S. premiere of Russian composer Sofia Gubaidulina's Fachwerk on Thursday, December 3 at 8 pm at Zellerbach Hall in Berkeley, with world-renowned Norwegian bayan pioneer Geir Draugsvoll in his Bay Area debut. Fachwerk was written for bayan (classical accordion), percussion, and strings. The evening opens with two brass works by Italian Renaissance composer Giovanni Gabrieli – Canzon septimi et octavi toni andSonata pian e forte – and concludes with Mussorgsky's much-loved Pictures at an Exhibition.

As previously reported, Rob Marshall (Into the Woods, Chicago) will direct a new Disney film based on their classic 1964 movie, MARY POPPINS. Speaking to Vulture, the helmer revealed more about the project, which will take place in 1934, when the original P.L. Travers books -- about the magical nanny's continued adventures with the Banks family -- were written and could include a cameo (or more, please!) by the original film's legendary star.

Soho Rep. and Ars Nova present the New York premiere of Cesar Alvarez's FUTURITY, opening tonight, October 20, and running through November 15, 2015. Directed by Soho Rep. Artistic Director Sarah Benson, FUTURITY is a new, avant-Americana musical with music by Alvarez and The Lisps, and lyrics and book by Alvarez. The production, which features 13 actor-musicians, is presented at the Connelly Theater (220 E. 4th St.) and in association with Carole Shorenstein Hays.
