York Theatre Company Presents Lab Production of SONGS FOR A NEW WORLD, Now thru 8/12

As part of a new initiative supporting promising young artists Off-Broadway, The York Theatre Company, in association with Patricia Hoag Simon, presents a new lab production of Songs for a New World with music and lyrics by Jason Robert Brown. Songs for a New World plays six performances, tonight, August 4 through August 12, 2012, at The York Theatre at Saint Peter's including special late-night performances on Fridays for "the show after the show."(Citicorp Building, entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue).

Broadway composer Jason Robert Brown has just announced in his blog the release of two seperate sheet music book and accompaniment CD sets of his music. He writes: 'My editor at Hal Leonard, the estimable Rick Walters, called me in 2010 with the idea that we should do a book-and-CD folio of me playing accompaniments to my own songs, with a male and female edition. I thought it was a fantastic idea, and now it's finally out in the world!' The Female edition and Male edition are both available on Amazon.com, as well as iTunes and Sheet Music Direct.

The Hangar Theatre's Pilot Reading Series in NYC continues with a reading of Seeing Jerusalem, a new play by Seth Greenland. The reading is tonight, April 23rd at 7 pm at One on One Studios, 34 West 27th Street, 11th floor (between Broadway and Sixth Avenue). The reading will be directed by Roger Danforth.
