Les Misérables made its pre-Broadway premiere at the Kennedy Center in December 1986, and now Cameron Mackintosh's new 25th anniversary production of Boublil and Schönberg's Les Misérables will run in the Kennedy Center Opera House from September 28 to October 30, 2011. Featuring glorious new staging and spectacular reimagined scenery inspired by the paintings of Victor Hugo, the production is directed by Laurence Connor and James Powell with music by Claude-Michel Schönberg, lyrics by Herbert Kretzmer from the original French text by Alain Boublil and Jean-Marc Natel.

Trevor Nunn's production of William Shakespeare's The Tempest began preview performances at the Theatre Royal Haymarket on 27 August, press night is on 6 September and the production is booking until 29 October 2011. Set and costume designs are by Stephen Brimson Lewis, with lighting by Paul Pyant, sound by Paul Groothuis and music by Shaun Davey. The Tempest is produced by the Theatre Royal Haymarket Company, Duncan C Weldon, Paul Elliott & Terri and Timothy Childs.

Crosshatch Theatre Company (formerly known as The Collective Theatre Company), under the leadership of Stephen F. Agosto, Geoffrey Bryant and Emma Canalese, co-artistic directors, presents the world premiere of Einstein and Mileva, a new play by Caitlin Shannon.

The first time I saw "West Side Story" I was on the edge of my seat for these tragic lovers. And the first time I saw "Les Miserables" I wept through the entire thing. There really is nothing like the first time. And the 5th Avenue's current touring production of "Les Miserables" is really nothing like my first time. With its complete lack of subtlety and heart, the only thing it has going for it is the amazing voices singing these wonderful songs.

Cymbeline is back! Two sold-out weeks last January for Fiasco Theater's production of Cymbeline wasn't nearly long enough to satisfy the demands of a theatre-going public hungry for, as Ben Brantley of The New York Times wrote, 'the comedy, poignancy and unlikely magic of Cymbeline.'

The Public Theater will begin previews for the world premiere of Richard Nelson's new play SWEET AND SAD on Tuesday, September 6. The first show in the 2011-2012 Public Lab season, SWEET AND SAD takes place over Sunday brunch on the 10th Anniversary of 9/11 with a cast that features Jon DeVries, Shuler Hensley, Maryann Plunkett, Laila Robins, Jay O. Sanders and J. Smith-Cameron.

The final performance of Tom Stoppard's Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, the second production in Trevor Nunn's year as Artistic Director of the Theatre Royal Haymarket, is on Saturday 20 August 2011, as previously announced.

The role of Gerado, the husband of Paulina Salas (Thandie Newton), will be played by Tom Goodman-Hill, and Doctor Roberto Miranda will be played by Anthony Calf in Ariel Dorfman's Olivier award-winning thriller Death and the Maiden.

Glenn Close will be at the Toronto International Film Festival for the world premiere of Rodrigo Garcia's ALBERT NOBBS at Roy Thomson Hall, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

A.R.T. American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) will present The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess, opening the A.R.T.'s 2011-2 season on August 117 at the Loeb Drama Center. The Gershwin's Porgy and Bess, by George Gershwin, DuBose and Dorothy Heyward, and Ira Gershwin, is adapted by Suzan-Lori Parks and Diedre Murray, and directed by A.R.T. Artistic Director Diane Paulus.
