Seven rambunctious children and the most irreverent nun ever to kick a habit lend their playfulness to the holidays at Theatre Under The Stars, welcoming your family into theirs, with The Sound Of Music.. This classic show for all ages is sure to be one of 'your favorite things,' at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts from December 8-20, 2009!

Theatre Under The Stars announces a new educational initiative, S.T.A.R.S. (Sharing Theatre And Reaching Students), which empowers patrons and donors to directly impact the life of a local student through musical theatre.

The production of THE SOUND OF MUSIC currently playing at the Hobby Center in Houston has made use of their pit in a way that may surprise audiences. Instead of placing the orchestra in the pit, the Hobby Center has instead chosen to pipe in the music, using the pit area to aid in scene changes and allow some of the more intimate scenes to be played more downstage than a pit would have known.

Marion Cottilard appeared on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon where she the late show host proposed a toast, accompanied by French Champagne, to celebrate her recent Golden Globe nomination in the category of Best Actress: Comedy or Musical. As per WENN news, Daniel Day-Lewis called his upcoming film NINE THE MUSICAL a tribute to his late mother, actress Jill Balcon, who passed away in July at the age of 84. Day-Lewis revealed that his mother was very excited to learn that Sophia Loren had been cast as his mother in the film, as she was a fan of hers.
