Kansas City Ballet Presents CINDERELLA, 5/9-18

Kansas City Ballet's 56th season will conclude with the highly anticipated evening-length Kansas City Premiere of Victoria Morgan's Cinderella. The delightful score by Sergei Prokofiev will be performed by the Kansas City Symphony, conducted by Kansas City Ballet Music Director Ramona Pansegrau.

Artistic Director Devon Carney today announced New Moves, a unique performance event designed to search out, develop and showcase emerging choreographers, both locally (some within Kansas City Ballet) and from the national dance scene. It is designed to provide time and space for dancers and guest choreographers to create world premiere works. This season's choreographers include four Company dancers Travis Guerin, Anthony Krutzkamp, Charles Martin, and Ian Poulis and two guest choreographers, Erin Novak-Lustig, the artistic director from Seamless Dance Theatre who recently was honored by the Federation of Dance Competitions as its 2013 Humanitarian of the Year, and Ilya Kozadayev, a former soloist with Houston Ballet and currently on faculty with Oklahoma University pursuing his Master's Degree in Choreography.

Kansas City Ballet today announced the 2014-2015 season. The 57thseason will commence with the Kansas City Premiere of Alice (in wonderland), choreography by Septime Webre and music by Matthew Pierce. Kansas City, Mo. (Oct. 23, 2013) – Tickets for Kansas City Ballet's 41st annual production of The Nutcracker,presented at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts, went on sale at 9:00 a.m., October 21. The production, featuring the choreography of Todd Bolender, returns for 18 public performances and three matinees for schools. This two-act ballet continues to delight audiences with its magnificent sets, costumes and special effects. Three casts of Kansas City Ballet dancers and the new KCB II, plus more than 175 local youngsters ages 7 to 22 selected from Kansas City Ballet School, will perform E.T.A. Hoffman's story.

I have always told my ballet students that because the art form is kept alive by each new generation of dancers, we must be as proficient in historical styles as we are in contemporary techniques.
