Improv Wars to Present IMPROV WARS: THE SPRING OFFENSIVE, 3/18-5/13

On March 18, 2014, Improv Wars will again hit the Columbus entertainment scene with Improv Wars: The Spring Offensive in a five week run at Studio 35, 3055 Indianola Ave, Columbus, OH 43202. As with the two previous engagements at Studio 35, Improv Wars will showcase local improv groups competing for audience laughs and applause. This is an interactive evening where the audience gets to be a part of the show by providing suggestions to give the groups inspiration for their scene. The winning group for each night goes on to the finale on May 13th, competing for the Winner of the Improv Wars: The Spring Offensive. Prizes will be awarded to the winning team.

The March broadcasts of The New York Philharmonic This Week - the weekly radio series of concerts and recordings by the New York Philharmonic, hosted by Alec Baldwin - begin with Music Director Alan Gilbert leading the Philharmonic in the World Premiere of The Marie-Josee Kravis Composer-in-Residence Christopher Rouse's Prospero's Rooms; Bernstein's Serenade (after Plato's "Symposium"), with Joshua Bell as soloist; and Ives's Symphony No. 4 with representatives of the New York Choral Consortium. The following week Alan Gilbert and Assistant Conductor Case Scaglione will lead the Philharmonic in a performance of Stravinsky's Ragtime for 11 Instruments; Shostakovich's Tahiti Trot; Copland's Clarinet Concerto featuring Associate Principal Clarinet Marc Nuccio; and Wynton Marsalis's Swing Symphony (Symphony No. 3) featuring the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Universal has just picked up the rights to Kim Barker's memoir THE TALIBAN SHUFFLE, with Tina Fey attached to star. SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE's Lorne Michaels will produce alongside Fey. 30 ROCK writer Robert Carlock will pen the script.
