PBS to Premiere NOVA LAST B-24

Seventy-four years ago, an American B-24 Liberator bomber known as the Tulsamerican fell from the sky while returning from a mission over Europe and disappeared beneath the waves of the Adriatic Sea. Seven crew members survived the crash and were rescued. Three men were never found?thought to be lost forever, unrecoverable.

Austin Film Festival Announces Full 25th Anniversary Film and Conference Schedule

Austin Film Festival & Writers Conference (AFF), the premier film festival recognizing the writers' contributions to film, television, and new media, announced today the full schedule of films and panels for the 25th Anniversary festival, this October 25-November 1. AFF's feature film slate includes 23 World, North American, and US Premieres, a robust retrospective series, and highly anticipated marquee titles, including Steve McQueen's and Gillian Flynn's modern-day thriller Widows, Peter Farrelly's dramedy period piece Green Book starring Mahershala Ali and Viggo Mortensen, Mike Leigh's period piece Peterloo,  Mickey Rourke-starring boxing drama Tiger, Paul Dano's Wildlife starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Carey Mulligan, and Julia Roberts and Lucas Hedges family drama Ben is Back bowing as AFF's Centerpiece selection, with writer/director Peter Hedges in attendance.

NPR is sharing a powerful new video for Natalie Prass' track 'The Fire' today from her sophomore album The Future And The Past. Directed by Alex Germanotta, the video is 'a statement on power dynamics between people in relationships and in society,' according to Prass. Shot in the remains of Presidents Park outside Richmond, Virginia - a now defunct open-air museum where visitors could walk among 43 presidential busts, each standing over 18 feet tall - the crumbling monument visually encapsulates the themes of Prass' new album; her heartbreak over the 2016 presidential election and her newly born awareness that she could use her music to talk about social justice.

Through battles with the demands of modern living, from the personal to the political, vessel imagines a life where shutting oneself off from the world could be considered the most radical protest of all.

Secrets of the Dead: The Woman in the Iron Coffin follows forensic archaeologist Scott Warnasch and a team of historians and scientists as they investigate the remains of a young African American woman who died in the first half of the 19th century. By piecing together the woman's story and the time in which she lived, the film explores a vivid picture of what life was like for free African American people in the North and their connection to the AME church.

Archaeologists investigating a site in Iraq destroyed by ISIS have discovered a 2,700-year-old temple that reveals new insights into one of the Bible's most famous stories, “Jonah and the Whale.” That's just one of the revelations explored in the new season of Smithsonian Channel's popular series SECRETS, which follows the world's leading archaeologists as they use modern technologies to solve some of history's oldest riddles. A mysterious tomb from the final days of the Vikings, a forgotten princess of Egypt and the true origin of King Solomon's mines are among other startling finds revealed in season five of SECRETS, which premieres Monday, September 24 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Smithsonian Channel.
