New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) presents an evening with two legends in One Show! Electric Hot Tuna, with founders Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Casady ('Water Song,' 'Hesitation Blues'), and Dave Mason, with his band Traffic Jam ('We Just Disagree,' 'Only You Know and I Know'), perform a string of hits spanning landmark concerts and albums of the Sixties to today, tonight, July 16, 2015 at 7:30 PM at Prudential Hall.

Human Nature, Australia's top selling pop vocal group and a Las Vegas favorite, have reimagined the sounds of Motown to bring you a show that's as unexpected as it is amazing.   Human Nature: The Motown Show will be presented at Mayo Performing Arts Center on Wednesday, August 19 at 8 pm. In 1970, legendary Motown songwriter Ron Miller penned the song, 'Heaven Help Us All,' becoming one of Stevie Wonder's first major hits. With its gospel-infused sound and poignant, timeless lyric, the song has been covered by multiple major label artists including, Joan Baez and Richie Sambora. Virginia's Signature Theatre opens its air-conditioned doors once again for the annual Sizzlin' Summer Nights Series. Two and a half weeks of live music and performances by Signature favorites, DC area stars, and some of New York's most exciting Broadway performers. The cabaret series runs tonight, July 8, through July 25, with a different performance each night.

The West End production of Motown the Musical, opening at the Shaftesbury Theatre in February next year, held open casting auditions in London today (7 July 2015).  Almost 200 people attended and auditioned for the opportunity to portray the iconic artists of Motown in the musical.

On Sunday, July 12, the Houston Symphony will bring its popular Day of Music back to Jones Hall for the third consecutive year. Building upon the cultural diversity of the first and second years, the occasion will feature music for all tastes as more than 20 performing groups appear on five stages in and around Jones Hall.  With genres including jazz, Indian, classical, Tejano, choral, and singer-songwriter, the Day of Music is intended to provide the community with an exciting medley of musical experiences.

Elton John. Carole King. Joni Mitchell. Carly Simon. Paul Simon. Stevie Wonder. They were six superstar singer/songwriters in a constellation of such stars during the early 1970s; musicians who could definitely be considered the composers of the 'New Great American Songbook.' On July 23 at 7 pm, the Rosen Performing Arts Center of the Wayne, New Jersey YMCA (as part of their 2015 Summer Concert Series) will present the star-studded revue Salute to Singer/Songwriters of the Seventies, which celebrates the great talents of the 'Golden Age of the Pop Singer/Songwriter.'

The team of Benj Pasek & Justin Paul was literally “on the move” when I had the chance to chat with them about Dear Evan Hansen, their latest project, for which DC is fortunate enough to be the host for the world premiere, thanks to Arena Stage's dedication to nurturing new work. Benj and Justin were, in fact, driving to DC to begin the final stages of preparation for the July 10 first preview of the show. As it turns out, this was their very first visit to Arena Stage, and they were excited, and more than ready to be there. But first, we talked.
