BWW Review: SCHOOL OF ROCK, New London Theatre
by Marianka Swain
- Nov 17, 2016
Andrew Lloyd Webber may seem an unlikely rock god, but he's harnessed anarchic musical liberation for this big-hearted, irresistibly entertaining new show, adapted from the popular Jack Black film. Its success on Broadway looks likely to be replicated here, given its broad appeal, hummable hits and giddy, live-action cartoon hijinks framing the seriously impressive talent of its young rockers.

by Ashlee Latimer
- Oct 10, 2016
While Cassy London's golden locks and gloss-slick fuchsia lips are immediately striking, Cassy displays a depth and a warmth that is beyond her years. Her positive energy is infectious and coupled with her outgoing personality and authenticity, she quickly engages with everyone she meets. Her lyrics speak of difficult love, potential bliss, and a mixture of vagueness and vividness that infiltrates real life. Cassy embodies polarities: surface beauty and depth, vulnerability and resilience. She is the girl next door, but possesses elite star quality.

BWW Review: Justin Vivian Bond Is 'Golden' in Anniversary Show at Joe's Pub
by Troy Frisby
- Sep 23, 2016
If this is what the end of the GOLDEN AGE OF JUSTIN VIVIAN BOND looks like, here's hoping for an extension.
Before capping off a yearlong celebration of Bond's 25th anniversary of being a performer with a VIVification benefit, v's---Bond's preferred pronoun---GOLDEN AGE was a fever dream, full of charming anecdotes about shared psychoanalysts, spirit guides and Blythe Danner.
On the second evening of the show's four-night run earlier this month, Bond's control over the melodic rasp of v's voice was impeccable. More importantly, v displayed an unmatched talent for controlling the space v's in, owning the entire stage with little more than a gentle sway and the tap of a heel, making Bond's all-out performance look effortless.
BWW Review: Natalie Douglas Brings Glitter and Magic to Birdland in STEVIE SONGS
by Victoria Ordin
- Sep 15, 2016
For her soulful, imaginative rendering of jazz, pop, and R&B music, Los Angeles native and septuple MAC Award winner Natalie Douglas has earned raves for two decades from American and British critics alike. Superlatives like 'transcendent,' 'heart-stopping,' and '[the] greatest' pepper reviews both of her live performances and work in the studio. Douglas' new show, STEVIE SONGS, which marked her 50th performance at Birdland, made clear why Clive Davis of The New York Times wrote, 'By the end [of a show], you want to her to carry on into the small hours.'
