The Road Theatre Company and Taylor Gilbert, Founder/Artistic Director together with Sam Anderson, Artistic Director, have announced the first production of their 22nd season, the west coast premiere of THE DETECTIVE'S WIFE, written by Keith Huff (The Bird and Mr. Banks, Pursued by Happiness, A Steady Rain), directed by Mark St. Amant (The Bird and Mr. banks, Pursued by Happiness) and starring Taylor Gilbert as Alice Conroy.

3-D Theatricals presents the final show of its 2012 season, the Tony Award-winning musical HAIRSPRAY, choreography by Dana Solimando, musical direction by Allen Everman, and directed by 3-D Theatricals Executive Producer and Artistic Director T.J. Dawson. HAIRSPRAY began performances on Friday, October 12, and performs through Sunday, October 28 at the historic Plummer Auditorium, 201 E. Chapman Ave. in Fullerton. HAIRSPRAY will then travel across town to perform at the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center, 1935 Manhattan Beach Blvd. for three performances only November 2-4. East West Players (EWP), the nation's premier Asian American theatre, continues its 47th Anniversary season, themed Spirited Away, with the world premiere of TEA, WITH MUSIC. Book and lyrics are by acclaimed playwright Velina Hasu Houston, music by Nathan Wang and choreographed by Giovanni Ortega. This production is directed by Jon Lawrence Rivera. The musical features Joan Almedilla (Miss Saigon, Les Miserables), Tiffany-Marie Austin (Miss Saigon, A Little Night Music), Yumi Iwama (Our Town, South Pacific), Jennie Kwan (TV's California Dreams, Avenue Q), and Janet Song (Twelfth Night, Medea).

Paul Garman, Executive Director/Producer, has announced the cast of the ultimate Broadway musical, featuring the largest MTW cast in years. 42nd STREET, previewing October 26th, opening on October 27th and running for twelve performances through November 11, 2012. As with all Musical Theatre West productions, each show is created from the ground up at its rehearsal studios in Long Beach using a blend of both professional actors from Broadway, Hollywood and national tours, as well as the best in local talent.

ROCKIN' WITH THE AGES & THE PINK LADY present the World Premiere production of THE BEAT GOES ON! A Musical Celebration of the Young at Heart, featuring musical direction by David O, and written, choreographed and directed by Ovation Award-winner Cate Caplin.

SIDEWAYS THE PLAY by Rex Pickett has extended its world premiere staging at Ruskin Group Theatre, running Fridays-Saturdays at 8pm, and Sundays at 2pm extended through October 28, 2012 (no performances 9/28-9/30).

Chance Theater presents the fourth show of its 2012 season with a biting new world premiere play, OVERLOOKED, written by Brian Nelson (the writer of the acclaimed film "Hard Candy") and directed by Marya Mazor. OVERLOOKED opens tonight, Saturday, September 29 at 8pm and continue through Sunday, October 21 at Chance Theater, 5552 E. La Palma Ave. in Anaheim Hills.

The MainStreet Theatre Company has announced that it has received three LA Stage Alliance Ovation Award Nominations for its work during the 2011/2012 Season, including a "Best Production" nomination for their May production of A Wrinkle in Time.

Theatre of NOTE continues its 2012 season with the world premiere of POTENTIAL SPACE written by Kirsten Vangsness and directed by Bill Voorhees. POTENTIAL SPACE will preview tonight, September 21st and Saturday, September 22nd, and will open on Friday, September 28th at 8pm and run through Saturday, October 27th at Theatre of NOTE, 1517 N. Cahuenga Blvd. (just north of Sunset) in Hollywood.

Nominees for the 2012 LA STAGE Alliance Ovation Awards were announced Tuesday evening at the Renberg Theatre inside the Gay and Lesbian Center in Los Angeles.
