Profiles Theatre Announces the Midwest Premiere of ANNAPURNA by Sharr White, 6/6-20

Profiles Theatre announces the Midwest premiere of Annapurna by Sharr White, opening at The Alley Stage, 4147 N. Broadway on June 12, 2014. Annapurna, directed by Profiles ensemble member Eric Burgher and featuring ensemble member Darrell W. Cox, runs June 6, 2014 - July 20, 2014 with the press opening on Thursday, June 12 at 8:00pm. The previously announced production ofHunter Gatherers by Peter Sinn Nachtrieb has been postponed until further notice.

Aurora Theatre continues the 2013-2014 Harvel Lab Series with a Teatro del Sol production, Mariela in the Desert by Karen Zacarias. It is 1950 and artists Mariela and Jose are living an isolated existence in the desert of Northern Mexico, haunted by the ghost of their young son. Jose is very ill and Mariela sends a telegram to their daughter encouraging her to come home. Where once the walls were beautifully decorated, now only one painting remains, and it is shrouded in mystery. This play will be performed in Spanish with English supertitles. This production features an amazing cast including the stunning Blanca Aguero in the title role of Mariela and Aurora Theatre Producing Artistic Director Anthony P. The Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation (SDCF) Observership Program grants emerging Directors and Choreographers 25 paid opportunities to observe the work of master Directors and Choreographers as they create productions on Broadway, Off-Broadway and at leading regional theatres across the country. SDCF Observers have access to the entire rehearsal process, from first rehearsal through previews to opening night. Observers are guaranteed the invaluable opportunity to observe, first-hand, the techniques, disciplines, approaches and insights of master artists as they create new productions and revive classics.

LA Puppet Fest Continues this Weekend with Theatre, Workshops & More

LA Puppet Fest 2014, back for its second year, is a city-wide celebration dedicated to sharing and promoting the art of puppetry through performances and workshops. New Dates Added to Yoshiki Classical World Tour, Kicking Off at Segerstrom Center, 4/25

International rock icon Yoshiki has announced three new concert dates across Asia to his highly anticipated Yoshiki Classical tour. X Japan's founder and leader will bring his first classical concert tour to Taipei, Taiwan, as well as, Tokyo and Osaka, Japan. The newly added concert dates follow Yoshiki's recently announced Bangkok, Thailand performance. Yoshiki, Asia's foremost rock icon and multi talented music superstar, will embark on the Yoshiki Classical tour at Segerstrom Center for the Arts on Friday, April 25 at 8 p.m. in the Rene?e and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall before setting off across North America, Europe and Asia, culminating in Yoshiki's native Japan.

Grammy nominated, Golden Globe 'Entertainer of the Year' and multi-platinum selling artist Engelbert Humperdinck will perform at Segerstrom Center for the Arts for one night only on Saturday, September 20 at 7:30 p.m. in Segerstrom Hall. The charismatic and consummate entertainer will please audiences and "Humperdinckers" alike with music from his vast catalogue, including hits such as "Quando, Quando, Quando," "Release Me," "The Last Waltz," "Spanish Eyes" and many more tender ballads. London Times calls him, "The premier voice of the 20th Century."

From today, April 3 - April 12, 2014, The Boston Teen Acting Troupe will present the New England premiere of THE DREAM OF THE BURNING BOY, the hit Off-Broadway drama by David West Read. This will be the first production entirely produced, directed, acted and designed by teenagers. Nine-time Grammy Award-winning artist John Legend will appear at Segerstrom Center for the Arts for the first time when he performs tonight, April 2 at 8 p.m. in the Rene?e and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall. This engagement is part of his recently announced 2014 North American tour titled, An Evening with John Legend: The All of Me Tour, which begins March 20 and goes through June. Legend is featured in an intimate acoustic setting, highlighted by guitar/vocal accompaniment as well as a string quartet.
