 The Public Theater (Artistic Director, Oskar Eustis; Executive Director, Patrick Willingham) will begin performances for the New York premiere of MOJADA on Tuesday, July 2 with a Joseph Papp Free Preview in The Public's LuEsther Hall. Written by MacArthur Genius Award-winning playwright Luis Alfaro and directed by Obie Award-winning directorChay Yew, MOJADA is a bold new telling of a story as old as tragedy itself. MOJADA will run through Sunday, August 11, with an official press opening on Wednesday, July 17.

Lucas Hnath's A Doll's House Part 2 opens with a knock on a door. Reid Thompson's haunting set design stretches across the Victor Jory Theatre with purpose, making the smallest ATL performance space feel somehow like the largest, and in in the center stands a door, tall, purple, and foreboding. The knock also begins small but grows louder and more insistent as no one comes to answer it.

In the overwhelming quiet of the woods, six wildy dissimilar runaways from city life embark on a week-long silent retreat. Guided by an unseen guru and pledging a vow of silence, these strangers confront internal demons both profound and absurd. Both contemplative and funny, Small Mouth Sounds is a cleverly conceived and sharp observation of the pursuit of wellness and the achingly human need to connect.  Small Mouth Sounds will preview on March 13 and opens on March 14, 2018. If you have ever gone on retreat or participated in a silent workshop like EST, the detail of Small Mouth Sounds will be of particular interest. If you have not, not to worry. The moment to moment dramedy makes total sense and is most definitely worth your time and money. Bess Wohl who wrote the successful Barcelona a couple of years back, has done it again. Small Mouth Sounds is at the core about people, the pain they experience and the efforts they make to deal with it. Now onstage for a mere three weeks at the Broad Stage in Santa Monica, Small Mouth Sounds doesn't say a heck of a lot, yet simultaneously says it all. Watching the six actors play off each other is one of the best features of this play. Each creates a character with a different problem. Some issues we recognize right away, others don't become obvious until later in the 110 minute piece performed without an intermission. Take Judy and Joan, for example.
