BWW Reviews: Powerful Performances Elevate SCR's 'TOPDOG/UNDERDOG'
by Michael L. Quintos - Jan 20, 2012

Both history and literature are peppered with intense stories of sibling rivalry--the most contentious of which often recount the environmental and circumstantial forces that pit them against one another, sometimes resulting in wrenching, tragic results. Added to this cannon almost a decade ago was Suzan-Lori Parks' Pulitzer Prize-winning drama TOPDOG/UNDERDOG, currently enjoying a well-executed revival production at South Coast Repertory in Costa Mesa through January 29, 2012.

Geva Theatre Presents TWO TRAINS RUNNING, 4/3-4/25
by BWW News Desk - Apr 25, 2010

When August Wilson died in 2005, America lost one of its most influential playwrights. Wilson's legacy - a cycle of ten plays encompassing the 20th Century, continues to captivate audiences around the world for its poeticism and beauty. Geva Theatre Center, as part of its five-year commitment to presenting all ten plays in 'August Wilson's American Century,' will produce the seventh play of the cycle, Two Trains Running, opening March 30 and running through April 25.

BWW Reviews: GEVA Theatre Center Presents TWO TRAINS RUNNING
by Mary Hanrahan - Apr 9, 2010

It seems only appropriate that Rochester's Geva Theatre Center would transition from Arthur Miller's The Price to August Wilson's Two Trains Running; comparatively speaking, however, Wilson has given Miller a run for his money. Ron OJ Parson's exhilarating production of Two Trains Running, the fourth fully mounted play of Geva's celebration of Wilson and the seventh in his famed Pittsburgh Cycle, gives its audience what The Price never could: an entertaining, well-paced, and (dare I say) priceless night of theater.

Review: Solid Cast Elevates SCR's FENCES Revival (Ends 2/21)
by Michael L. Quintos - Feb 9, 2010

August Wilson's Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning FENCES, currently playing at South Coast Repertory through February 21, certainly has the pedigree of a respected, celebrated play-and it shows. In this hard-working, admirable revival directed by Seret Scott, Wilson's character study of a broken, flawed man and the people that envelope him, is fiercely grounded with raw, irrational emotions, which force the kind of remarkable, impassioned performances that only a cast this seasoned can deliver effortlessly-most notably Robinson, Jennings and Bates.
