Boston Landmarks Orchestra Sets Free Summer 2015 Concerts

Inspired by the musical connection of people, place, and culture, Boston Landmarks Orchestra, under the direction of Music Director Christopher Wilkins, announces the 2015 summer's free concerts at the DCR's Hatch Shell. Free concerts will be held every Wednesday evening (7 p.m.) beginning July 15 thru August 26, 2015. Neighborhood concerts and youth engagement residencies featuring Brazilian composer, pianist and vocalist Clarice Assad continue throughout the summer beginning on July 12 (6 p.m.) at Pinebank Promontory in Jamaica Plain and through August 14 at John F. The Scottish Ballet performed A Streetcar Named Desire as a ballet at the Kennedy Center on Thursday, May 29th.  On its face, this is a ridiculous statement.  How could a foreign company perform the iconic American story by Tennessee Williams, much less translate it into pure movement?  However, the production was extremely well conceived and magnificently executed in libretto, design, and dance.

Pigeon Creek Shakespeare Stages THE COMEDY OF ERRORS at Elizabethan Playhouse Reconstruction Today

The Grand Haven-based Pigeon Creek Shakespeare Company, Michigan's only year-round, touring Shakespeare Company, will bring two productions to the Rose Playhouse, a recreation of an outdoor Elizabethan playhouse at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp in Twin Lake, Michigan, in the summer of 2015. The company will perform The Comedy of Errors today, May 30 and Hamlet on August 29. Both performances will take place at 2:00 p.m.

Inspired by Jonathan Safran Foer's enigmatic and eponymous novel,Tree of Codes distorts conventional perceptions of space and time, through manipulation of light, reflection, sound, and movement. The work will be performed by a company of soloists and dancers from the Paris Opera Ballet and Company Wayne McGregor.

In this taut 2013 theatrical adaptation of Pumla Gobodo-Madikizela's award winning-book, the apartheid regime's most notorious assassin and head of its death squad, Eugene de Kock (played by Matthew Marsh), sits opposite psychologist Pumla Gobodo-Madikizela (played Noma Dumezweni) in Pretoria Central Prison in 1997. Gobodo-Madikizela is a member of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission determined to understand his actions. She questions de Kock, who is sentenced to two life terms plus 212 years for crimes against humanity, murder, conspiracy to murder, attempted murder, assault, kidnapping, illegal possession of firearms, and fraud.
