Berkeley Rep Announces Summer Theatre Intensive and Teen Actors Studio

As it opens Lawrence Wright's Fallaci, its 65th world premiere, Berkeley Repertory Theatre also announces open registration for its Summer Theatre Intensive and Teen Actors Studio programs. These summer camps provide middle- and high-school students a rigorous and rewarding training program with full access to the creativity and operations of the Tony Award-winning nonprofit. Throughout June and July, local youth will adapt and mount their own performances on one of the Theatre's renowned stages.

Akvavit Theatre Continues GJENGANGER Through 3/24

Akvavit Theatre presents two Chicago and one United States premieres of the work of Europe's most-produced living playwright, Norway's Jon Fosse, under the unified title of Gjenganger, February 28 - March 24, 2013 at the DCASE Storefront Theater, 66 East Randolph St. The "short full-length" plays, presented in rotation (two per night and all three Sundays) are: Winter, directed by Paul S. Holmquist, Autumn Dream, directed by Breahan Eve Pautsch,* and A Summer's Day, directed by Wm. Bullion.* Original musical arrangements for the three plays are by Dag Juhlin of Poi Dog Pondering. The performance schedule for Gjenganger is Thursdays (A Summer's Day/Winter), Fridays (Winter/Autumn Dream) and Saturdays (Autumn Dream/A Summer's Day) at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays (all three plays) at 3 p.m. ("Gjenganger" is the Norwegian word for "those who walk again.")

Miller Theatre at Columbia University School of the Arts continues the 2012-13 season of its Composer Portraits series with: REBECCA SAUNDERS, featuring Either/Or with Richard Carrick, conductor. Miller favorites Either/Or perform a full program of U.S. premieres by the British-born, Berlin-based composer. The concert will include an onstage discussion with Rebecca Saunders and Richard Carrick. It will all take place on Thursday, April 4, 2013, 8:00 PM in the Miller Theatre (2960 Broadway at 116th street). Tickets: $25-30 • Students with valid ID: $15-18.

This March at Jermyn Street Theatre, Christopher Timothy stars in the first major revival of Graham Greene's 1953 drama The Living Room for sixty years. This powerful and shocking story of sex, sin and guilt was Greene's first work for the stage and prompted the critic Kenneth Tynan to describe it as 'The best first play of its generation'. At the time it launched the career of a young Dorothy Tutin and enjoyed acclaimed runs in the West End and Broadway.

The Building Stage's Founder and Artistic Director Blake Montgomery announces that the world premiere of Dawn, Quixote, conceived and directed by Montgomery, at The Building Stage, 412 N. Carpenter Street in Chicago's West Loop, March 22 - April 27 will be the final production for The Building Stage. Previews are Friday, March 22 and Saturday, March 23 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, March 24 at 4 p.m. Opening/press night is Monday, March 25 at 7:30 p.m. The regular performance schedule is Thursday - Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 4 p.m. Tickets for the previews are students/children: $5, adults: $15 and for the regular run, students/children: $15/$20 and adults: $25/$30.
