Rubicon Theatre Company to Premiere CONVICTION, 9/3-28

y of Ventura continues the company's 16th Not Your Typical Season with the WORLD PREMIERE of Conviction, produced in association with Dead Posh Productions, Bay Street Theatre, and the Royal Manitoba Theatre. Written by Carey Crim (Resident Artist at The Purple Rose) and directed by Scott Schwartz (Jane Eyre and Golda's Balcony on Broadway/Bat Boy and Murder for Two Off-Broadway), Conviction follows the story of a teacher accused of a crime he may or may not have committed and the impact that accusation has on his relationships with close family and friends, each of whom having different perspectives on what happened. Rubicon's Youth Production of THE DROWSY CHAPERONE Runs Now thru 8/16

Rubicon's Summer Youth Program presents The Drowsy Chaperone, the Tony Award-winning musical with music and lyrics by Lisa Lambert and Greg Morrison based on a book by Bob Martin and Don McKellar. With direction by Brian McDonald, musical direction by Miriam Arichea and choreography by Carolanne Marano, The Drowsy Chaperone features over 25 local youth performers in a production well suited for children, adults and families. Opening today, August 13th and running through Saturday, August 16th, performances of The Drowsy Chaperone begin at 7 p.m. on Wednesday and continue 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Thursday, 8 p.m. on Friday, and 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Saturday.

Rubicon Installs New Hearing Loop in Theatre

Hearing-aid users attending performances at Rubicon Theatre will now find the experience more enjoyable thanks to the recent installation of a new hearing loop system. A hearing loop sends pure, clear sound directly to the audience member's hearing device without the need to use any additional equipment. It effectively turns the user's hearing aid into wireless earphones that broadcast sound specifically customized to their pattern of hearing loss.

Conor Lovett to Host Master Class at Rubicon Theatre Company, 7/24

Rubicon Theatre Company is offering a special three-hour acting master class with guest instructor Conor Lovett of Gare St. Lazare Ireland on Thursday, July 24, 2014 from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. Students 20 or older may make a reservation by visiting www.rubicontheatre.org or calling (805) 667-2900, ext. 234. Tuition is $50. Those who wish to audit may do so for $30. All participants should memorize a short contemporary monologue.

The work of playwright Will Eno is one of the most discussed and debated subjects in the theatre world today. Eno, a Brooklyn-based artist whose work is more often produced in Europe than it is in the U.S., is the creator of such controversial plays as Thom Pain (based on nothing), Middletown and, most recently The Realistic Joneses starring Toni Collette, Michael C. Hall, Tracy Letts and Marisa Tomei.

Tom Dugan's WIESENTHAL to Begin Performances 10/24 at Theatre Row

Tony Award winner Daryl Roth (Kinky Boots, The Normal Heart) and Karyl Lynn Burns (The Best is Yet to Come) present the New York premiere of Wiesenthal, the award-winning play written by and starring Tom Dugan and directed by Jenny Sullivan. Wiesenthal launches a limited 14-week engagement, from October 24 through February 1, at the Acorn Theatre at Theatre Row, (410 W. 42nd Street). Opening night is November 5.

Rubicon Theatre Company announces a Broadway Cabaret Benefit that will feature Broadway stars Krysta Rodriguez (First Date, The Addams Family and 'Smash') and Megan McGinnis (LES MISERABLES, Little Women and Beauty and the Beast).
