BPA announces the cast for William Shakespeare's ROMEO & JULIET, Bainbridge Performing Arts' 6th Annual Summertime Shakespeare performance, appearing July 13 - 29 at The Bloedel Reserve.

Ophelia's Jump Productions presents their Annual Midsummer Shakespeare Festival with ROMEO & JULIET and AS YOU LIKE IT. The productions will run July 12-22, 2018 at the Sontag Greek Theatre at Pomona College. A new immersive dance show created by Keone & Mari Madrid and Hideaway Circus will premiere in San Diego, California this September titled BEYOND BABEL. Starring Keone and Mari in the lead roles, the production is inspired by the classic tale of Romeo & Juliet and current social stories from all over the world. BEYOND BABEL is told entirely through the style of West Coast Urban Dance and will begin preview performances September 21, 2018 in a new immersive theater space, called the Beyond Babel Theater (2625 Imperial Avenue, San Diego CA 92102), near Downtown San Diego. Bainbridge Performing Arts brings ROMEO & JULIET and its 6th annual Shakespeare performance to The Bloedel Reserve July 13 - 29. Romance blossoms on nature's stage in this fateful tale of star-crossed young lovers.

For its 30th anniversary season, Repercussion Theatre presents Romeo & Juliet: Love is Love from July 5th to August 8th, 2018. The largest Shakespeare-in-the-Park (SITP) tour that Repercussion Theatre has had in a decade-with 30 shows to mark the anniversary-makes the usual rounds of local parks as well as visits to the West Island, the Eastern Townships, the Laurentians, Eastern Ontario and Quebec's Monteregie with two additional locations: the Olympic Park and Hawkesbury. The Montreal opening is July 6th at Mount Royal Cemetery; the West Island opening is July 5th at Baie d'Urfe's Fritz Farm, and the Ontario opening is in Cornwall on July 7th at the appropriately named Lamoureux Park. All shows begin at 7pm.

The best thing about summer in Minnesota is outdoor theater. And the lakes, of course. But I love nothing more on a lovely summer evening than to sit outside in a park or a garden somewhere while someone tells me a story. Classical Actors Ensemble continues their tradition of bringing Shakespeare to metro area parks (for free!) with ROMEO AND JULIET, playing at Lake of the Isles and many other parks through mid July. Previously I've seen CAE do Shakespeare's comedies, and found them to be so fun, playful, and almost interactive, the way Shakespeare was meant to be. This is the first time I've seen them do a tragedy for their fun summer outdoor play. But Romeo and Juliet is pretty much a rom-com, until somebody dies, so it's still fun and playful in the beginning. And while maybe the tragedy doesn't have quite the same effect when the sun is softly setting, the birds are chirping, and the wind is blowing through the leaves on the trees, it's still the best way to see Shakespeare.

New York City Ballet announced today the programming for Principal Dancer Joaquin De Luz's farewell performance, which will take place on October 14 at 3pm, closing the Company's 2018 Fall Season. After a 15-year career with New York City Ballet, for his final performance De Luz will dance 'Theme and Variations' from George Balanchine's Tchaikovsky Suite No. 3, Jerome Robbins' A Suite of Dances, and Peter Martins' Todo Buenos Aires. Also on the program will be Balanchine's Concerto Barocco, a personal favorite of De Luz's, which he will not perform that afternoon.

Romeo is a Montague and Juliet is a Capulet. Their families are enmeshed in a longstanding feud, but for Romeo and Juliet, it is love at first sight.

What happens when Shakespeare's iconic, star-crossed lovers get a third wheel? A tangled triangle of unrequited love! In this fun and fizzy romantic comedy, a rehearsal room becomes a hilarious hothouse for palpable passion, witty repartee, and comedic conflict as the Bard's glorious language inspires the hopeless romantic in us all.

This August, Jenny Horsthuis (Swift in Word, Corbett Theatre; Macbeth, St. Paul's Church; Inside Pussy Riot, Saatchi Gallery) will return to St. Paul's Church to star as the brave hero d'Artagnan in Iris Theatre's thrilling re-gendered The Three Musketeers. Also returning to St. Paul's is Matt Stubbs (A Serious Business, Pleasance Theatre/The Hat Factory; A Midsummer Night's Dream, Stafford Castle; Macbeth, St. Paul's Church) who will be playing Athos - one of the formidable musketeers. Completing the infamous trio are Albert De Jongh (The White Princess, Starz Network; As You Like It, Petersfield Shakespeare Festival; King John, Union Theatre) and Elliot Liburd (Bismillah: An ISIS Tragicomedy, Pleasance Theatre; The Girl With The Iron Claws, Dartington; Titus Andronicus, Fourth Monkey Theatre Company) who will be playing Aramis and Porthos respectively. They are joined by Ailsa Joy (Bad Jews, Theatre Royal Haymarket and UK Tour; Two Gentlemen of Verona, Guildford Shakespeare Company; TimePlays, Hampton Court Palace) as Milady and Bethan Rose Young (The Great Gatsby, Theatr Clwyd; Cosy, Millennium Centre Wales; Dead Born Grow, Frantic Assembly) as Constance. Stephan Boyce (Dangling, Southwark Playhouse; Thirst, The Space; Romeo & Juliet Unzipped, Salisbury Playhouse) who plays Treville, the moral leader of the Musketeers, will round off this stellar cast.

The Roustabouts Theatre Co. presents the world premiere of ROMEO, ROMEO & JULIET written by co-founder Ruff Yeager at the MOXIE Theatre from June 14 through July 8, 2018. Starring Brian Mackey, Michelle Marie Trester & Michael Silberblatt and co-directed by Phil Johnson & Kim Strassburger.

Free For All, one of the capital's cherished annual traditions, will return this summer to Shakespeare Theatre Company (STC), offering two weeks of free performances of the Company's 2016 production of Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet. Directed by STC Associate Artistic Director Alan Paul, whose hit production of Camelot has extended through July 8 due to popular demand, the production will run at Sidney Harman Hall (610 F St NW) from August 21-September 2, providing more than 12,000 people the chance to see the play free of charge.

Producers Carmen Pavlovic (Global Creatures) and Roy Furman have announced additional casting for the new musical King Kong. Joining the previously announced Christiani Pitts, (A Bronx Tale) as Ann Darrow, and Eric William Morris (Mamma Mia!) as Carl Denham, will be Erik Lochtefeld (Misery, Metamorphoses) as Lumpy.

'BAZ-A Musical Tour de Force' continues to attract crowds as one of most fun and vibrant shows on the Las Vegas Strip. Broadwayworld.com had the pleasure of interviewing William Thomas Evans who plays Maestro in the show.
