The Tony Awards are now less than a month away, and I've really been enjoying revisiting memories, cast albums, and even shows themselves since the nominations were announced! A few days ago I posted my thoughts on the Best Score, Book, Musicals and Plays. Today, here are my feelings in the acting categories.

Roundabout Theatre Company's (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director) production of Clifford Odets' The Big Knife will conclude its limited engagement today, June 2, 2013 at 2:00PM. The Big Knife, directed by Doug Hughes, features Rachel Brosnahan, Bobby Cannavale, Marin Ireland, Billy Eugene, Richard Kind, Ana Reeder, Reg Rogers, Joey Slotnick, Brenda Wehle, C.J. Wilson and Chip Zien.

The Drama Desk will present its Summer Panel Discussion on Monday, June 17th at 6:30 pm at the Pope Auditorium on the Lincoln Center campus of Fordham University. Entitled “Making My Broadway Debut,” the panel will feature stars of screen and television discussing their Broadway debuts.

Chicago's Music Box Theatre, 3733 N. Southport, hosts a variety of special screenings and appearances throughout the summer, including Curb Your Enthusiasm's Jeff Garlin in person for opening weekend of his new IFC Films comedy Dealing With Idiots, Hitchcock muse Tippi Hedren (The Birds) in attendance for a special matinee of Marnie and Alex Winter, aka Bill in Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure, presenting his new documentary feature Downloaded as part of the fifth annual Summer Music Film Festival.

The 2013 Tony Awards will occur on June 9 at 8 PM on CBS and all of Broadway will be turning out for theatre's biggest night and some fabulous and quite funny new promos for the telecast have now been unveiled. CBS has just released three uniquely adorable ads for the forthcoming awards ceremony, featuring nominees and current stars of MATILDA, RODGERS & HAMMERSTEIN'S CINDERELLA, ANNIE and more.

SILENCE! THE MUSICAL will play a special added holiday performance today at the Elektra Theatre in the heart of Times Square. The show, which normally plays at 5 PM on Sundays, will have two performances today at 2 & 7 PM. Winner of the 2012 Off Broadway Alliance Award for Best Musical, SILENCE! is the unauthorized parody of THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS, with book byHunter Bell, music & lyrics by Jon and Al Kaplan, and direction & choreography by Tony Award winner Christopher Gattelli. After opening initially at Theatre 80 on July 9, 2011 to unanimous rave reviews, the show immediately became a sold-out phenomenon and was selected by Time Magazine as one of the year's Top 5 Musicals.

The annual ROCK THE DOCK! SUMMER BENEFIT BASH on Saturday, July 20, will be hosted by the one and only Susan Lucci. Actor and Bay Street Board Member, Richard Kind, who most recently won the DRAMA DESK AWARD for his role on Broadway's THE BIG KNIFE, will be the evening's celebrity auctioneer. The gala is being held in memory of the Theatre's founder and former Artistic Director, Sybil Christopher. THE 67TH ANNUAL TONY AWARDS will be broadcast live from Radio City Music Hall, Sunday, June 9 (8:00-11:00 PM, live ET/delayed PT) on the CBS Television Network. The show returns to Radio City Music Hall after two years at the Beacon Theatre. Emmy Award winner Neil Patrick Harris returns as host.
