Last week the Adrienne Arsht Center was honored to host the Miami premiere of BABALU, Lucie Arnaz's loving tribute to the music of her father, Desi Arnaz.

Chicago Opera Theater (COT) presents the final production of their 2010 Spring Festival Season - Jake Heggie's, THREE DECEMBERS on May 8, 12, 14, and 16 at the Harris Theater in Millennium Park. COT will also be presenting a one-night only concert with Frederica von Stade and Jake Heggie on May 10, also at the Harris Theater.

In a world premiere, CAMP KAPPAWANNA brings the adventures of camp straight to the stage for families to enjoy together, with a score by Grammy®-nominated singer/songwriter Lisa Loeb and book by local rising star Marco Ramirez. From Australia, TAP DOGS is a high energy, fresh take on tap dance, featuring nine male dancers taking over the stage with raw energy and dynamic talent. Originally created in Israel, the Miami premiere of THE ALUMINUM SHOW is the summer's not-to-be-missed grand finale! Aluminum in all forms is transformed and brought to life in surprising, delightful, and humorous ways in this wildly inventive work of dance, theater, and magic. All of South Florida is sure to be captivated by this stunning visual collage of mind over metal.

The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County proudly announces the premiere of ROCK ODYSSEY, a spectacular theatrical production that will be seen by every fifth-grader in the Miami-Dade County Public School System. In total, more than 26,000 fifth graders will participate in the pilot program, which was created by the Adrienne Arsht Center in conjunction with Miami-Dade County Public Schools. The show will afford young people the opportunity to experience live theater in Miami's premier performing arts center, at no cost to them or their schools. ROCK ODYSSEY will run from April 27 - May 8, 2010 in the John S. and James L. Knight Concert Hall. This arts education program is made possible with the generous support of Miami-Dade County and additional funding from Funding Arts Network.

MiraCosta College's production of William Shakespeare's Tempest, will close on March 14.

Bass-clarinetist / ethnomusicologist Dr. Paul Austerlitz will be presenting three concerts featuring music from his CDs, 'Journey' and 'The Fret Cycle.' His band will be augmented with the super-star percussionist of Dominican roots music, José Duluc and renown poet Michael S. Harper. Performances take place February 26 at 7:30PM (Gettysburg College), March 4 at 6PM (Esperanza Academy), and March 5 at 6PM (Bracetti Academy).
