Just yesterday the company of The Phantom of the Opera reached another milestone! The musical became the first and only show in Broadway history to celebrate reaching 12,000 Performances.  BroadwayWorld was on hand for the special day and you can check out photos below!

Based on the original novel Madame Sousatzka written by Bernice Rubens, SOUSATZKA is set in London, England in 1982 and tells the story of a musical prodigy torn between two powerful women from vastly different worlds: his mother, a political refugee from South Africa and his piano teacher, a brilliant eccentric with a shattered past. These two proud, iconoclastic women must ultimately cross cultural and racial divides to find common ground, or else jeopardize the young musician's destiny.

Producers Cameron Mackintosh and The Really Useful Group announced today that the longest-running show in Broadway history, Andrew Lloyd Webber's THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, directed by Harold Prince, will once again make theater history, reaching the unprecedented milestone of 12,000 performances. A feat achieved by no other Broadway show, the 12,000th performance will take place Monday evening, November 28 at 8PM at The Majestic Theatre (247 West 44th Street).

The longest-running show in Broadway history, and one of the most successful stage productions of all-time, the musical will welcome three actors to principal roles beginning Monday, June 13.
