Beginning this Saturday, January 19th, Broadway favorite Sean McDermott will star as serial killer Hannibal Lecter in Off-Broadway's smash hit SILENCE! The Musical. Following the announcement that SILENCE! would be ending its long run December 30th, ticket sales unexpectedly soared, shattering all previous box office records for the show so far. Giving audiences an unbridled and candid look behind the scenes of the Broadway curtain, NCM(R) Fathom Events, Overnight Musicals and The Broadway League present 'One Night Stand: Creating a Play in a Day,' a unique one-night event broadcast to movie theaters nationwide on Wednesday, Jan. 30 at 7:30 p.m. local time. This fast-paced, hilarious and entertaining film follows some of New York's top actors, including Cheyenne Jackson (30 Rock, Glee), Jesse Tyler Ferguson (Modern Family) and Rachel Dratch (Saturday Night Live), as well as teams of writers, composers and directors as they are given 24 hours to write, cast, compose, rehearse and perform four short musicals. At the end of the 24 hours, the musicals make their opening, and closing, night at New York City's Gramercy Theatre. The event will also present exclusive behind-the-scenes footage and interviews with the stars of 'One Night Stand' as they share intimate stories of life on Broadway. (more...)

Originally announced as a strictly limited engagement through August 13, 2011, SILENCE! was extended numerous times by popular demand and transferred theatres twice, ultimately landing at the new Elektra Theatre in the heart of Times Square, which was constructed especially for the show. This year, the North Carolina Comedy Arts Festival has set out to create a 13th year that will showcase the best up and coming stand-up comedians, sketch artists, and improvisors in the nation and some well-known headliners. In its 13th year, the festival remains one of the largest events of its kind on the East Coast. Organizers are busy finalizing the schedule, but they are pleased to announce the schedule and some already confirmed headliners for the 13th Annual North Carolina Comedy Arts Festival. This year's headliners include comedian Larry Miller and Kevin Allison's RISK! Live. This year the festival runs January 30-February 17. The festival will be held at several venues throughout the Chapel Hill and Carrboro area and will have one night each at the Carolina Theater and MotorCo in Durham.
