LAByrinth Theater Company (John Ortiz, Artistic Director; Philip Seymour Hoffman, Co-Artistic Director; John Gould Rubin, Co-Artistic Director & Executive Director) will present a special reading of BITTER HONEY II by Eric Bogosian, a benefit evening of more underperformed and never performed Bogosiana, for three performances only, June 2 at 7:00 p.m. and June 3 at 7:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m., in The Anspacher Theater at The Public Theater (425 Lafayette Street at Astor Place). All proceeds will benefit LAByrinth Theater Company.

LAByrinth Theater Company has announced that Artistic Directors John Ortiz, Philip Seymour Hoffman and John Gould Rubin pass their voluntary positions of service into the hands of fellow artists and LAB members Stephen Adly Guirgis, Mimi O'Donnell and Yul Vázquez. The three new Artistic Directors are joined by Marieke Gaboury, who fills the position of Producing Director.

Goodman Theatre proudly concludes its 2008/2009 season with José Rivera's newest play, Boleros for the Disenchanted, 'an epic study of wedded life that is simply?and not so simply?marvelous' (Variety). A true love story inspired by Rivera's parents' courtship and eventual migration from Puerto Rico to Alabama, Boleros for the Disenchanted makes its Chicago premiere directed by Henry Godinez?the Goodman's Resident Artistic Associate who was named 2008 Latino of the Year by the Chicago Latino Network. Chicago actors Elizabeth Ledo and Sandra Marquez command the stage in the role of Flora, based on Rivera's mother, at various points in her life. Godinez's cast also includes Liza Fernandez, Joe Minoso, Rene Rivera and Felix Solis. Boleros for the Disenchanted is performed in English in the Albert Theatre June 20 ? July 26, 2009. The Cult singer Ian Astbury will be hitting the stage with his new project The Soft Revolt to raise money for Apollonia Players' production of Savage in Limbo by John Patrick Shanley (a silent auction will also be held). The Bowery Electric will be hosting a run of the play from June 12th to the 28th. Shanley is best known for his work Doubt, which was made into an Oscar-nominated film last year starring Meryl Streep and Philip Seymour Hoffman.
