Having died 19 years ago Peter's music lives on and his songs have been recorded by countless international singing stars. Thursday 10 February marks his birthday - being only 16 days from the return of Todd McKenney in The Boy From Oz. After a recent sellout season in Melbourne The Boy from Oz will play a strictly limited season at the Capitol Theatre from Saturday 26 February to Thursday 17 March 2011.

Australian actor/singer/director David Campbell, whose recent CD On Broadway is fast approaching international success, was in New York this past weekend as an ambassador for G'Day USA and to promote his family album Floodlight to be released in stores in Australia February 1 and already a hit on iTunes. The album is a $4.95 contribution to aid the flood victims in Australia. In our conversation Campbell talks about the album, his background and his busy schedule in Australia as artistic director of the Adelaide Cabaret Festival.

According to Variety, Stars of the stage and screen Alec Baldwin, Hugh Jackman, Jude Law, and Chris Pine are set to voice animated characeters in the upcoming 3D movie: Rise of the Guardians, The film is expected to be released in November 2012. David Lindsay-Abaire will write te screenplay for the movie, while Peter Ramsey and William Joyce are set to direct.

On Tuesday November 23 Aussie singing sensation David Campbell opened a two-night gig at the Catalina Jazz Club, promoting his new CD On Broadway. Possessing a big belting Broadway vocal instrument, Campbell wowed the small but enthusiastic crowd the moment he stepped on stage. His warm and outrageously funny personality was on display throughout the 60 minute set as he bantered about his English roots, his rock star dad, his New York and Australian encounters with genius Stephen Sondheim and about his infant son asleep in the dressing room. He really enjoyed talking with his fine accompanist Christopher Denny, with whom he's had a twelve-year professional relationship. 'Oh, I sing, too!' he quipped.

With music by Jule Styne and book and lyrics by Betty Comden and Adolph Green, the production will run through 21, 2010 at New York City Center. Bells Are Ringing is directed and choreographed by Kathleen Marshall, features music direction by Rob Berman and stars Kelli O'Hara and Will Chase.
Jackman Declines Offer to Host Oscars for Third Year

Hugh Jackman, who was most recently seen on Broadway opposite Daniel Craig in A STEAD RAIN, has declined the opportunity to host the Oscar telecast for a third straight year, deadline.com reports. Last year, Jackman reportedly had to turn down the prestigious gig to prep for his role in the movie The Real Steel. He also was vary of hosting the show two consecutive years Jackman will be unable to host the 2011 ceremony, as he will be preoccupied with X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Filming begins in late February/early March of 2011.
