Will Eno's MIDDLETOWN to Play ACT, 8/30-9/29
by BWW News Desk - Jul 25, 2013

ACT Theatre has announced the Seattle premiere of Will Eno's whimsical and poetic comedy drama, Middletown. In his contemporary take on Thornton Wilder's classic Our Town, Will Eno (2012 PEN/Laura Pels International Foundation for Theater Award) digs acutely into American life, bringing the deeply human journeys of neighbor and stranger together in an 'Everytown USA.' Eno's critically acclaimed new play explores how the imponderable mysteries of the universe reveal themselves through the apparently everyday lives and relationships of ordinary people in an ordinary place.

ACT Opens RAPTURE, BLISTER, BURN Tonight
by BWW News Desk - Jul 12, 2013

Is the grass really greener on the other side? Obie Award winning playwright Gina Gionfriddo's searing new comedy Rapture, Blister, Burn explores the evolving attitudes of women towards career, marriage and family - and the consequence of choice. ACT is proud to present the West Coast premiere of Rapture, Blister, Burn which the The New York Times described as 'an intensely smart, immensely funny new play.' A smash Off-Broadway hit and a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize and Kennedy Theatre Prize, Gionfriddo's Rapture, Blister, Burn confronts a variety of post feminist topics from the ongoing career vs. family debate, male dominance in business and relationships, feminist implications of torture movies, and even takes on society's acceptance and consumption of pornography. Described by the author as an unintentional homage to Wendy Wasserstein's The Heidi Chronicles, with a title inspired by the band Hole's single, 'Use Once and Destroy', Rapture, Blister, Burn is a wickedly perceptive and surprisingly relevant take on cross-generational feminism.

BWW Reviews: RED at the Seattle Rep
by BWW News Desk - Mar 24, 2012

Theatrically the questions of "What is art?" and "Can art be commercialized" are not new ones. But that is precisely what John Logan's Tony Award winning play "Red", currently playing at the Seattle Rep, is putting out there. And while not a new issue, the play still results in an interesting look into the mind of two artists, one established and one fledgling, and above all turns in some stellar performances from the actors involved.
