Dale Joan Young is bringing Bedbugs!!! back to NY. No, not those begbugs, Bedbugs!!! the award winning comedy sci-fi thriller rock musical, the brainchild of composer Paul Leschen (Drama Desk nominee for Twist! and pianist and arranger for international rock sensations Scissor Sisters) and book & lyricist Fred Sauter (MFA, NYU Musical Theatre Writing Program). BEDBUGS!!! will feature the direction and choreography of Robert Bartley with musical supervision by Deborah Hurwitz. BEDBUGS!!! begins performances on September 9 and runs through October 26, celebrating its opening night on Sunday, September 14 at 7PM at the ArcLight Theatre (152 West 71 Street). 11th Hour Theatre Company presents its only mainstage production of the season, the hilarious, boy-band "holy hit" musical Altar Boyz running May 15-June 1, 2014 at The Arts Bank at the University of the Arts. With a book by Kevin Del Aguila and music and lyrics by Gary Adler and Michael Patrick Walker, Altar Boyz is directed by Megan Nicole O'Brien with an ensemble cast of Robert Hager, Adam Hoyak, Billy Kametz, Michael Linden, and Nicholas Park.

Manhattan Shakespeare Project (MSP), an all-female Shakespeare theater company, will celebrate its 'patron saint' William Shakespeare's 450th birthday by blowing out birthday candles and reading bawdy writings penned by the master playwright at The Thirst Fan Bar (254 W 31st St.) on Sunday, April 20, at 7 p.m.

The ninth annual edition of Broadway Backwards, a one-night-only performance produced by Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and benefiting BC/EFA and the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center of New York, took place last night. Manhattan's All-Female Shakespeare Company, presents Twelfth Night (Or What You Will), for their Free Shakespeare in the ParkS 2013 summer season. Manhattan Shakespeare Project provides an opportunity for female actors to play traditionally male roles as well as an opportunity to break into the male dominated theater industry in directing, producing, writing, and stage production. The play, directed by Reesa Graham, tells the story of the hilarious, slap-stick love triangle that forms when shipwrecked Viola (who, to survive in hostile foreign lands, dresses up as boy) falls in love with the lord Orsino, who in turn is in love with the Countess Olivia, who seems to have fallen in love with Viola's male persona! Parkgoers will notice patterns of colorful ribbon tracing the entryways along basketball courts in St. Nicholas Park, one of Harlem's several 'ribbon parks' now through the spring. With the aid of KIPPS High School volunteers, artist Katherine Daniels installed this public exhibition of three contemporary weavings on view through April 20, 2013.
