Melanie Amaro stunned millions of viewers with the power of her voice and the intensity of her performances when she appeared during the inaugural season of THE X FACTOR last year. When Melanie returns to THE X FACTOR stage tonight, Dec. 6 (8:00-9:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) on FOX, to premiere her new single, 'Long Distance,' she'll be doing it as a champion. Her new single will be serviced to radio following her performance and is currently available on iTunes.

The X FACTOR judge spoke to reporters on Tuesday about co-judges, new hosts and what to expect on upcoming episodes of the FOX singing competition.

THE X FACTOR is extending online auditions to Friday, April 27th. Solo artists and vocal groups have an additional two weeks to submit their online auditions. To audition online, auditioners should upload a thirty-second introduction and a one-and-a-half minute a cappella video performance to www.TheXFactorUSA.com.

X FACTOR Season 1 contestant Astro has announced via his twitter account that he has just signed a record deal with Epic Records. Astro will join his mentor on the Fox singing competition, LA Reid at Epic Records along with the Season 1 winner, Melanie Amaro.

Epic Records announced yesterday that it has signed Melanie Amaro to a recording contract following her triumphant win on season one of Fox's THE X FACTOR. Her new home with Epic Records places her under the leadership of legendary music executive, Epic Records Chairman/CEO and The X Factor judge, Mr. Antonio 'L.A.' Reid.

The first season of THE X FACTOR came to a spectacular conclusion tonight as Melanie Amaro was crowned the winner during a sensational live two-hour season finale on FOX. Host Steve Jones revealed that after the votes were cast, Amaro had bested runner-up Josh Krajcik and second runner-up Chris Rene. Amaro, 19, who was mentored by Judge Simon Cowell, emerged as America's choice and capped her coronation on Thursday's finale by singing 'Listen.'
