While football and baseball have been slugging it out for decades for the title of America's Most Popular Sport, there's no doubt that the latter is Broadway's baby, boasting Tony-winners Damn Yankees and Take Me Out.  Aside from inspiring amusing songs for Wonderful Town and High Button Shoes, football's longest Broadway run was the short-lived musical All-American, which featured the unlikely combination of Ray Bolger acting in scenes written by Mel Brooks.  Heck, even basketball (That Championship Season) and rugby (The Changing Room) have fared better on Broadway than football.

Huntington Theatre Presents Benefit Concert 'An Evening With Sutton Foster' 11/15

The Tony Award-winning Broadway musical theatre star Sutton Foster will perform her one-woman cabaret 'An Evening with Sutton Foster' on Monday, November 15, 2010 at 7:30pm at the Calderwood Pavilion at the BCA as a benefit for the Huntington Theatre Company. Tickets for An Evening with Sutton Foster begin at $150. The performance will be preceded by intimate pre-show dinners at South End restaurants and private homes, and will be followed by a VIP Post-Show Cast Party with Sutton and Friends. Tickets for the pre-show dinner and the performance cost $250; tickets for all three events are $350. Proceeds from the events will benefit the Huntington's world-class productions and award-winning youth, education, and community programs.

The award will be presented to Tony Award-winning librettist Thomas Meehan (Annie, The Producers, Hairspray, Elf) on Monday, November 22, 2010. As previously announced, the evening is directed by Tony-winning director/lyricist/librettist Richard Maltby and the award will be presented by Alice Hammerstein Mathias, daughter of Oscar Hammerstein II.

The Way Off Broadway Children's Theatre first opened in 1996 and since then has become a popular entertainment destination for families looking for a fun weekend activity, it has also become a great spot for birthday parties and school trips. In all of that time, there has only been one open casting call for Children's Theatre productions, as the casts are usually made up of performers who are invited to join a cast. In addition, the cast for the Children's Theatre productions is made up of professional adult actors. For the first time in its history, the Way Off Broadway Children's Theatre is holding an open casting call for children performers.

While the camps would continue to having acting and musical sessions during the summer, the Actors' Studio would be able to offer classes during the spring and fall.
