Queens Theatre in the Park (QTP) presents Tsidii: To the Rising Sun on Sunday, October 24 at 3pm and Saturday, November 13 at 2pm at Queens Theatre in the Park, Flushing Meadows Corona Park, Flushing, NY.

University of North Carolina at Wilmington's (UNCW) Department of Music faculty will share the spotlight with appearances by John Rack, timpani, Robert Nathanson, guitar, Barry David Salwen, piano, Pawel Izdebski, bass, Nancy King, soprano and Distinguished Professor and jazz legend Joe Chambers, drum set. The Wilmington Symphony's Beethoven symphony cycle continues with the joyful and elegant Symphony No. 8.

An evening of searing spoken-word performances and protest songs organized by playwright/hip-hop artist Carl Hancock Rux; the New York premiere of the vibrant Hip-Hop Theater Festival's dance/music mash-up 'Don't Hit Mama's Dance Party'; a soulful night with 2010 Grammy nominee Eric Roberson; and a tribute to Michael Jackson headlined by Living Colour frontman Corey Glover: There's something for everyone in the Fall 2010 season of Harlem Stage's hugely-popular Uptown Nights at Harlem Stage, which begins September 25.

Abbey Lincoln, accomplished jazz singer, actress, and civil rights activist, died at age 80 in New York City, according to The New York Times. Her death was announced by brother Donald Wooldridge.
