Nominations in 26 competitive categories for the American Theatre Wing's 65th Annual Antoinette Perry 'Tony' Awards were announced May 3, 2011 by Tony Award winning actor Matthew Broderick and Tony Award winning actress Anika Noni Rose, at the Tony Award Nominations Announcement sponsored by IBM. The nominees were selected by an independent committee of 22 theatre professionals appointed by the Tony Awards Administration Committee. The 2011 Tony Awards are presented by The Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing. Yesterday, a cocktail reception was held to honor the nominees before the big night. Casting for the 61st Music Circus season has been completed. After auditioning performers in New York, Los Angeles and Sacramento, California Musical Theatre Artistic Director Glenn Casale has finalized the acting company for the seven-show season at the Wells Fargo Pavilion, including The Producers, Oliver!, Anything Goes, Camelot, Annie Get Your Gun, I Do! I Do! and Miss Saigon.

Last night, the American Film Institute awarded Morgan Freeman with their 39th Life Achievement Award in Culver City, Los Angeles. During the evening, clips of Freeman's films were presented by stars such as Clint Eastwood, Tim Robbins, Forest Whitaker, Garth Brooks and Betty White.

As previously reported, the cast of PRISCILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT will be performing the show stopper 'It's Raining Men' at the Tony Awards ceremony on Sunday, June 12. The performance will be broadcast as part of the ceremony on CBS. BroadwayWorld was on hand for the rehearsal run with special guest performers Paul Shaffer (who wrote the tune) and Martha Wash (the song's original songstress). On Saturday, June 25th, the acclaimed Triad Theatre in Manhattan presents a special double bill concert, featuring contemporary jazz saxophonist Greg Osby and experimental 'Folk-Jazz' saxophonist Daniel Bennett.

The duo will 'likely' introduce the Spidey cast as they take the stage at the Beacon Theatre on June 12.

The New Group and Tectonic Theater Project proudly present One Arm, set to play May 19 - July 2 in a limited Off-Broadway engagement marking a New York premiere. Based on a short story and unproduced screenplay by Tennessee Williams, One Arm is adapted for the stage and directed by Moisés Kaufman. Official Opening Night is slated for Thursday, June 9 at 7:00 PM at The New Group @ Theatre Row.
