FALLING Begins Performances Off-Broadway at Minetta Lane Theater Tonight, 9/27

Producers Terry Schnuck, James & Catherine Berges, Crystal Beuerlein and Michael F. Neidorff today announced that they will present the Off-Broadway premiere of Falling, the new play by Deanna Jent, that will begin an open-ended run tonight, September 27th at the Minetta Lane Theater (18 Minetta Lane, one block south of West 3rd Street, just off of Sixth Avenue). Opening Night is set for Monday October 15th (7PM).

The Shakespeare Center of Los Angeles (SCLA) presents its 22(nd) annual Simply Shakespeare reading of 'A Midsummer Night's Dream,' September 27 at the Freud Playhouse, UCLA Campus. This event features a star-studded tie-dyed cast of hilarious hippies for an evening filled with peace, love reading a psychedelic 1960's adaptation of Shakespeare's play that includes iconic music of the era. Directed by SCLA's Artistic Director Ben Donenberg, the groovy participants include Billy Crystal, William Shatner, Martin Short, Topher Grace, Gillian Jacobs, Eddie Redmayne, Cedric the Entertainer, Paul Dooley, Olivia Thirlby, Alan Tudyk and co-chairs Rita Wilson and Tom Hanks and more!

Coyote REP has announced that RATED M FOR MATURE by Greg Ayers, a play that was featured in Coyote REP's 2010 Works-in-Development Series, will now be featured in The New York International Fringe Festival's Encore Series! After a successful run in this year's FringeNYC, Rated M for Mature was selected from among nearly 200 FringeNYC productions to move into the SoHo Playhouse for Encores. This special honor gives the production an extension of five more performances, starting Monday, September 10th.

In the entertainment sector we certainly love Martin Short or want to marry Ryan Gosling, but arguably the most successful Canadian export in entertainment is the international phenomenon 2 Pianos 4 Hands which, since its fledgling workshop days in 1994, has seen productions all over the world. Houston will be experiencing 2 Pianos 4 Hands for the first time at Stages this fall.

The first trailer has been released for the upcoming CG animated musical feature film currently in production, DOROTHY OF OZ. The film will feature voiceovers by a host of Broadway veterans including Lea Michele as Dorothy Gale, Bernadette Peters as Glinda, Kelsey Grammer as Tin Man, Megan Hilty as China Princess, Hugh Dancy as Marshall Mallow, Patrick Stewart as Tugg and Martin Short as Jester. Syfy is greenlighting Reunion Pictures' new series pilot High Moon, an adaptation of John Christopher's best-selling novel The Lotus Caves, it was announced today by Mark Stern, President, Original Content, Syfy, and Co-Head, Original Content, Universal Cable Productions. Reunion Pictures is producing the 90-minute pilot which is expected to begin production in Vancouver this fall.
