Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements of 2008 are being presented on Sunday, February 22, 2009, at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center?, and televised live by the ABC Television Network. Broadway's most talked about new musical and the biggest Tony Award?-winner in years is coming to the Fabulous Fox Theatre in St. Louis. Spring Awakening, the 8-time Tony Award? winning Broadway musical, will play a two-week engagement from February 10-22, 2009. Curtain times for the U.S. Bank Broadway Series presentation are Tuesdays through Fridays at 8 p.m.; Saturdays at 2 & 8 p.m.; Sunday, February 15 at 2 & 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday, February 22 at 2 p.m. There is also a weekday matinee on Thursday, February 19 at 1 p.m.

New Repertory Theatre announced today that Kate Warner, nationally known, award-winning director from Atlanta-based Dad's Garage Theatre Company, will be the company's new Artistic Director. 'Kate Warner is a natural leader,' said Michael McCay, Chairman of the Board of New Repertory Theatre. 'She has been very successful as an Artistic Director and is known for her programming savvy. Kate also has the vision and experience to drive the continuing growth of our theatre. Under her stewardship, Dad's Garage experienced impressive growth while remaining financially stable.'

Atlantic Theater Company and Druid are proud to announce a second extension of Martin McDonagh's hit dark comedy THE CRIPPLE OF INISHMAAN, which will now play through Sunday, March 15th, 2009 Off Broadway at Atlantic's Linda Gross Theater (336 West 20th Street). The limited engagement originally scheduled through February 1, 2009, began previews on December 9 before opening to unanimous critical acclaim on Sunday, December 21, 2008. It was first extended four weeks through March 1, 2009.

Spring Awakening, the 8-time Tony Award? winning Broadway musical, will open at PlayhouseSquare's PalaceTheatre and play for 16 performances, March 3-15. Spring Awakening is part of the KeyBank Broadway Series at PlayhouseSquare. Spring Awakening swept the 2007 Tony Awards? winning eight out of its eleven nominations, including Best Musical, Best Director (Michael Mayer), Best Book (Steven Sater), Best Choreography (Bill T. Jones), Best Orchestrations (Duncan Sheik), Best Lighting Design (Kevin Adams), Best Featured Actor (John Gallagher Jr.).

Oscar winning and Tony nominated playwright Martin McDonagh has not abandoned the stage as feared as he has focused on more film work recently, The New York Times has revealed that he has finished a new play and is eager to see it staged. The new work, titled A Behanding in Spokane, is set in 'small town America', a change from McDonagh's usual locale of Ireland. The Times describes the story as 'a man in his mid- to late -40's who is missing his left hand and needless to say, wants it back'. The Times reports that the play includes 'blood, gore, a bomb and the dark humor' McDonagh has become famous for, there is no exact information at present regarding when or where the production will debut. McDonagh was nominated this past week for best original screenplay for 'In Bruges' his comedy-thriller starring Brendan Gleeson and Colin Farrell. He also directed the film.
