Steppenwolf's HOW LONG WILL I CRY? Begins 2/26

Next on stage as part of the Steppenwolf for Young Adults' (SYA) season is the world premiere of How Long Will I Cry?: Voices of Youth Violence by Miles Harvey. How Long Will I Cry? is directed by Edward Torres as part of the citywide, season-long Now Is The Time initiative with Chicago Public Library and other local cultural organizations. Public performances of How Long Will I Cry? are March 2, 4, 9, 18 and 23 in Steppenwolf's Upstairs Theatre (1650 N Halsted St); the press performance is on March 4 at 7:30pm; tickets for public performances are available through Audience Services (1650 N Halsted St), 312-335-1650 and steppenwolf.org. School performances are Tuesday - Friday at 10am and are on sale now through SYA Education Assistant Lauren Sivak at 312-654-5643.

Silk Road Rising Opens THE LAKE EFFECT, Opening 4/23

Silk Road Rising co-founders, Artistic Director Jamil Khoury and Executive Director Malik Gillani, launch their company's 2013 season with the world premiere of Rajiv Joseph's The Lake Effect. All performances will be presented in the company's venue in Pierce Hall at The Historic Chicago Temple Building at 77 W. Washington St. in Chicago.

Steppenwolf for Young Adults' 2012/13 season continues with How Long Will I Cry?: Voices of Youth Violence by Miles Harvey, directed by Edward Torres, with artistic consulting by Kelli Simpkins in Steppenwolf's Upstairs Theatre (1650 N Halsted St). Presented as part of the citywide Now Is The Time initiative, How Long Will I Cry? features Charles Gardner, Tara Mallen, J. Salome Martinez, Jr., Shannon Matesky, Jesse David Perez, Gabriel Ruiz, Mark Smith, Mark Ulrich and Celeste Williams. How Long Will I Cry? runs February 26 - March 9, 2013; the press performance is on March 4 at 7:30pm. Performances Tuesday through Friday are reserved for school groups only; public performances are scheduled on March 2, 4 and 9. Single tickets and tickets for school groups are currently on sale. Following the run at Steppenwolf, How Long Will I Cry? will tour to seven Chicago Public Library branches with free workshops for the public to follow each performance; visit steppenwolf.org for the schedule and locations.

Trinity Rep announces that they will be hosting national launch of Theater Communications Groups (TCG)'s Blue Star Theatres Program for Military Families. The press conference will be held on Friday from 1:45-2:15pm at Trinity Repertory Company in Providence, RI. In partnership with Blue Star Families and with support from MetLife Foundation, TCG's Blue Star Theatres program will connect a variety of theatre offerings to military personnel and their families across the United States. This initiative recognizes the profound contributions of service families and seeks to build stronger connections between theatres, military families and their communities.

The Suzi Bass Awards, Inc. announced nominations for the 2011-2012 Atlanta professional theatrical season this evening to an enthusiastic crowd of patrons and theatre industry artists. The Suzi Nomination Party, which rotates venues, was hosted this year by the Aurora Theatre in Lawrenceville, GA. The spacious lobby allowed guests to enjoy drinks, hors d'ouevres and the chance to congratulate their colleagues. Guest announcers, Atlanta's own funny men Bryan Brendle, Bart Hansard, Tony Larkin, Aurora Theatre artistic director Tony Rodriguez and Scott Warren shared the list of nominees while playfully riffing on the 2011/2012 Atlanta theatre season.

Nicola and Managing Director William Russo have announced that Red Dog Howls, written by Alexander Dinelaris and directed by Ken Rus Schmoll, begins performances tonight at 7pm at NYTW, 79 East 4 Street, between Bowery and Second Avenue. Opening night is scheduled for Monday, September 24 at 7pm. Award-winning actress Kathleen Chalfant (Angels in America, Wit) returns to New York Theatre Workshop in a landmark role, joining Florencia Lozano and Alfredo Narciso in the cast of this New York premiere.
