The New York Pops, led by Music Director Steven Reineke, will present an evening full of holiday cheer at Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage with help from Tony award nominees Stephanie J. Block and Brian d'Arcy James, set to make the season bright with a program of holiday favorites tonight and tomorrow, December 18 and 19, 2015 at 8:00PM. The Gene Siskel Film Center (GSFC) of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) will celebrate one of Hollywood's most talented young actresses when it pays tribute to Tony and BAFTA winner and four-time Golden Globe nominee Scarlett Johansson, Saturday, June 11, 2016, at The Ritz-Carlton Chicago (160 E. Pearson St.). 'Celebrate Scarlett' will pay tribute to Johansson's accomplishments as an actor as well as give attendees the opportunity to hear an intimate conversation providing insights into her creative process and influences, favorite roles, upcoming projects and more. A retrospective of film clips from some of her most memorable performances will accompany the conversation highlighting her illustrious career. The evening will culminate with the presentation of the Gene Siskel Film Center Renaissance Award to Johansson by SAIC President Dr. Walter E. Massey and GSFC Advisory Board Chair Ellen Sandor.

Film Independent, the nonprofit arts organization that produces the Film Independent Spirit Awards, the LA Film Festival and Film Independent at LACMA, announced nominations for the 2016 Spirit Awards this morning. Film Independent President Josh Welsh presided over the press conference held at W Hollywood, with actors John Boyega and Elizabeth Olsen presenting the nominations. Nominees for Best Feature included Anomalisa, Beasts of No Nation, Carol, Spotlight and Tangerine.

The Independent Filmmaker Project (IFP), the nation's premier member organization of independent storytellers, announced today the presenters for the 25th Anniversary IFP Gotham Awards. The ten competitive awards to be presented include Best Feature, Best Documentary, Best Actor, Best Actress (presenting sponsor euphoria Calvin Klein), Best Screenplay, Breakthrough Actor, the Bingham Ray Breakthrough Director Award, the Gotham Audience Award, Breakthrough Series - Long Form, and Breakthrough Series - Short Form. In addition to the competitive awards, Gotham Award Tributes will be given to actors Helen Mirren and Robert Redford, director Todd Haynes, and producer Steve Golin. As the first major awards ceremony of the film season, the Gotham Awards provide critical early recognition and media attention to worthy independent films.
