Kauffman's deft hand with the quirky work of contemporary playwrights has earned her awards in NY and regionally.

Playwrights Horizons begins accepting entries today, Wednesday, March 2, for the LIVEforFIVE online lottery for $5 tickets to their world premiere of ANTLIA PNEUMATICA, a new play by Anne Washburn (Mr. Burns, a post-electric play at PH; 10 Out of 12; Iphigenia at Aulis; The Internationalist).  Commissioned by Playwrights Horizons and directed by two-time Obie Award winner Ken Rus Schmoll (Iowa at PH, The Internationalist, The Invisible Hand, Red Dog Howls, Middletown, What Once We Felt), the play is the fifth production of the theater company's 2015/2016 Season.   

Playwrights Horizons' world premiere production of ANTILA PNEUMATICA, a new play by Anne Washburn, directed by two-time Obie Award winner Ken Rus Schmoll, begins Friday, March 11 at Playwrights Horizons' Peter Jay Sharp Theater. Opening Night is set for Monday, April 4 with a limited engagement through Sunday, April 24. BAX / Brooklyn Arts Exchange is hosting the third annual ARTIST SERVICES DAY on Sunday, February 7, 2016, featuring an array of talks and workshops designed to support working dance, theater, performance artists and their supporters.

The Flea Theater will present the World Premiere of THE NOMAD, a new musical with book & lyrics by Tony Award nominee Elizabeth Swados and Guggenheim Fellow Erin Courtney, composed & directed by Swados. Performances begin tonight, February 19. The production runs through April 6, 2015.

Playwrights Horizons today announced the launch of its new Resident Company program. As a writer's theater dedicated to the support and development of contemporary American playwrights, composers and lyricists and to the production of their new work, this new initiative will subsidize office, rehearsal and performance space for smaller theater companies who share an interest in American writers and who, like Playwrights Horizons, demonstrate a commitment to producing new plays. In the future, resident companies will also receive performance space in one of Playwrights Horizons' venues.

Casting has been announced and a complete schedule is set for SUMMERWORKS 2014 - the annual season of new plays presented by the four-time Obie Award-winning theater company Clubbed Thumb -- it has been announced by Maria Striar, Clubbed Thumb's Producing Artistic Director. Trade Practices, a new work exploring the notion of 'value' against the backdrop of the booms and busts of the past decade, is set to play October 18 - November 3. Official Opening Night is set for Tuesday, October 22 at 7:00pm. Trade Practices will take place at a site in lower Manhattan's Financial District; address to be announced.
