Producer Janet B. Rosen announced today that Broadway's first a cappella musical In Transit will star David Abeles (Once), 2016 'America's Got Talent' contestant Moya Angela (Ghost The Musical), 2012 American Beatbox Vice Champion Steven 'HeaveN' Cantor (Broadway Debut), Justin Guarini (Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown; 'American Idol'), Telly Leung (Allegiance), Erin Mackey (Amazing Grace), Gerianne Pe?rez (Broadway Debut), Margo Seibert (Rocky), Chesney Snow (Broadway Debut), James Snyder (If/Then), Mariand Torres (Broadway Debut), Nicholas Ward (On the Town), Adam Bashian (Broadway Debut), Laurel Harris (Beautiful) and Aurelia Williams (Broadway Debut).

Announced this morning are additional performances by newcomer Ruby Lewis (Paramour) and long-time main stem favorite Eric Anderson (Waitress, The Last Ship, Rocky).

The New York Musical Festival (NYMF) has announced the performer lineup for the Women of Note concert series, celebrating female, queer and trans artists who are changing the landscape of musical theatre. Featuring dynamic sounds and incredible performers, this one-night-only concert event will showcase even more artists than last year in two back-to-back performances.  Women of Note will take place at The Duke on 42nd Street (229 W. 42nd Street) on Monday, August 1 with two separate lineups at 6:30 pm and 9:30 pm. The eight new plays in development at the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center's National Playwrights Conference will feature Broadway actress Ali Stroker (Spring Awakening the Deaf West Broadway revival, The GLEE Project), Drama Desk Award-nominee Margo Seibert (ROCKY on Broadway), television's Jeremy Bobb (The Knick, House of Cards, Hostages), Luke Macfarlane (Brothers & Sisters, Mercy Street), and Melanie Nicholls King (The Wire).

On June 20th, Broadway's Cinderella, Tony nominee Laura Osnes and music director Benjamin Rauhala hosted the third installment of THE BROADWAY PRINCESS PARTY at Feinstein's/54 Below, featuring Adrienne Warren, Taylor Louderman, Zachary Levi, Jeremy Jordan, and and over a dozen more princesses and special guests. Broadway's Mixtape, a new concert series featuring Broadway's best talent performing the songs of the artists who have influenced them the most, will debut at New York's iconic rock club Le Poisson Rouge this September. 

Relationships are complicated because people are complicated. Take Jason Robert Brown's 'Last Five Years,' which opened Wednesday evening at American Conservatory Theater. The 85-minute, two-person musical is simple. A couple recounts the rise and fall of their love. But just when you think you know to whom fault really belongs, Brown gives his audience another heart wrenching song to balance the scales. That Cathy and Jamie play out their stories with close to no interaction at all, and in opposite chronological order, only makes it all the more curious. And then there's the fact that the show is somewhat autobiographical and you have to wonder if Brown is living proof that we are our own worst critics. Simple, but complicated.
