Wells Fargo Concerts in the Garden returns to Atlanta's most popular outdoor music venue this summer for its 11th annual season. This year's exciting lineup features eight great acts - all performed on the Great Lawn:

Country music has made its comeback and the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center is presenting some of its finest performers! Texas icon Lyle Lovett and his Acoustic Group perform on Sunday, July 14 at 8:30pm; national treasures Emmylou Harris & Rodney Crowell perform on Saturday, July 20 at 8:30pm; and country music superstar Vince Gill performs on Sunday, August 11 at 8:30pm.

This year's Summer Gala at The Ridgefield Playhouse will feature singer/songwriter and actor Lyle Lovett and his Acoustic Group on Monday, July 8. A singer, composer and actor, Lyle Lovett has broadened the definition of American music in a career that spans 14 albums. Coupled with his gift for storytelling, the Texas-based musician fuses elements of country, swing, jazz, folk, gospel, and blues in a convention-defying manner that breaks down barriers. A consummate showman, known for his sarcastic wit and Grammy Award winning vocals, Lovett's songbook includes the hits "Here I Am", "Cowboy Man" (#10 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Songs), "Give Back My Heart" and "That's Right (You're Not from Texas)".

Natalie Maines, lead singer of the Dixie Chicks, headlines a concert featuring her own brand of alternative rock at Deer Valley Resort on Tuesday, July 30. Maines is the final artist to join the St. Regis Big Stars, Bright Nights outdoor concert series for 2013, which includes world-renowned talent ranging from Los Lobos to Jewel. Tickets are currently on sale for the entire series.

Tickets for the 2013 summer season at The Smith Center for the Performing Arts are on sale to the public beginning Friday, May 3. The lineup consists of a diverse collection of headliners from time-honored country artists to jazz legends and sports icons. Sponsors for the upcoming season include the Las Vegas Design Center at World Market Center and Bank of Nevada.

Kat Edmonson has signed a worldwide deal with Sony Masterworks. The label will launch her album Way Down Low on the OKeh/Masterworks imprint, coinciding with dates this spring and summer in Europe.

Diana Ross will appear at the Hollywood Bowl this summer for a special one-night-only performance on Saturday, August 3. Subscriptions are now available for purchase. Single tickets will be available for purchase in early May 2013.

On Way Down Low, Edmonson makes her songwriting and production debut. She performs with noted fan Lyle Lovett on “Long Way Home,” which Entertainment Weekly calls “an airy country duet.” The album was recorded at the historic Avatar Studio and The Capitol Studios with Grammy-winning producer/engineer Al Schmitt (Ray Charles, Frank Sinatra, Sam Cooke) and features input from legendary producer Phil Ramone (Paul Simon, Billy Joel).

Acclaimed singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Carrie Rodriguez will embark on an extensive U.S. tour in support of her fifth full-length solo album Give Me All You Got, set for release January 22 on Ninth Street Opus. The LP is the follow-up to 2010's Love and Circumstance, which No Depression hailed as "an album you do not want to miss." In anticipation Rodriguez recently stopped by West Virginia Public Broadcasting's "Mountain Stage" to record a set that is scheduled to begin airing nationwide March 15. By the last August, I had fallen so far behind on writing reviews of cabaret shows from the spring and early summer (I guess it's a positive when there are more performers and shows in New York than days in the week) that I decided to play catch up by combining a bunch of critiques into one big column. I hadn't planned on doing that again, but this fall there were so many shows that once again I couldn't keep up. but at least I've beaten my self-imposed deadline New Year's Eve deadline of posting these reviews of 12 shows, all staged between September-December by lovely, attractive women (okay, so one is a gender-bender) of varying talents and levels on the cabaret depth chart, from established stars to MAC and Bistro Award-winners to comeback 'kids' to interesting beginners and occasional performers who are in the game to follow their bliss. Whether their performances were rave-worthy, earning of qualified praise, or not quite up to snuff, they all deserve kudos for taking the plunge.
