CLYBOURNE PARK to Open 4/17 at City Theatre

St. Petersburg City Theatre continues its 90th Mainstage Season, presented by Raymond James, with the Tony Award and Pulitzer-Prize winning CLYBOURNE PARK, written by Bruce Norris. Opening night is April 17, 2015 and the production runs through May 3, 2015. There is a talk-back planned on April 19 following the performance.

Rep Stage, the regional theatre in residence at Howard Community College (HCC), ends its 22nd season with Dominique Morisseau's "Sunset Baby," directed by Joseph Ritsch, Rep Stage's co-producing artistic director. When a young woman's father, a former black revolutionary, reappears to obtain a piece of her deceased mother's legacy, he discovers that fatherhood might be the most challenging revolution of all.

Geva Theatre Center presents The Mountaintop - a soul-stirring reimagining of Martin Luther King, Jr.'s last night on earth by playwright Katori Hall, directed by Skip Greer. The Mountaintop begins performances tonight, March 31, opens April 4 (the anniversary of Dr. King's assassination), and runs in the Elaine P. Wilson Mainstage through April 26.
KC Rep to Stage World Premiere of STICKY TRAPS, 4/24-5/24

Kansas City Repertory Theatre continues its 50th anniversary season with Sticky Traps, a powerful new play by KC Rep's Playwright in Residence, Nathan Louis Jackson, Directed by Resident Director, Kyle Hatley. Sticky Traps focuses on a small town not far from Kansas City, where a mother protects her gay son's honor when his funeral is protested by a local church. Her actions have unintended consequences that will test her whole family - and the power of their love -- in the face of hate. The production begins Friday, April 24th and runs through Sunday, May 24th at Copaken Stage in downtown Kansas City.

The Morrisson Theatre Chorus, under the musical direction of César Cancino, presents its Spring Concert: The Magic of Movies and Music today, March 20 and tomorrow, March 21 at 8:00pm and March 22, 2015, at 2:00pm. The Spring Concert will feature music from many great and beloved films, including 'Casablanca,' 'Titanic,' 'The Mission,' 'The Wizard of Oz,' and many more! Also featured will be a medley of James Bond movie 'hits.'

Olivier Award-winning playwright Katori Hall returns to Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater with the world premiere of her most personal project to date-the fierce comedy-drama The Blood Quilt. Hall is an inaugural resident playwright of Arena Stage's American Voices New Play Institute, and The Blood Quilt is one of three plays from Hall receiving world premieres around the country this season. Hall reunites with director and Howard University alumna Kamilah Forbes (artistic director of the Hip-Hop Theater Festival) following their Broadway collaboration on The Mountaintop. The Blood Quilt runs April 24-June 7, 2015 in the Kreeger Theater.

BWW REVIEW: THE COLORED MUSEUM Celebrates and Skewers Black History

It feels like it could have been written yesterday, but THE COLORED MUSEUM, now in a rollicking revival at the Huntington Theatre Company in Boston, Mass., was actually first produced in 1986. Written by the estimable Broadway playwright and director George C. Wolfe (Jelly's Last Jam, Angels in America: Millennium Approaches) and directed here with great panache by Tony Award winner Billy Porter (Kinky Boots), this scathing "black black comedy" marches through 300 years of African American history by way of 11 funny but also penetrating living vignettes.

'Clybourne Park'-the wickedly funny and provocative play by Bruce Norris about how the different faces and shades of racism can make a straightforward real estate transaction anything but-will be the third production of the Hampton Theatre Company's 30th anniversary season. The Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning play opens tonight, March 12 at the Quogue Community Hall and will run through March 29.
