The Walnut Street Theatre's 2009-2010 Independence Studio on 3 season concludes with an all-new production of Eric Rockwell and Joanne Bogart's genre-hopping tribute to some of Broadway's greatest: The Musical of Musicals (The Musical!).

More than 20 of cabaret's brightest stars will be honored at the 25th Annual Bistro Awards which will take place on Tuesday, April 13 at Gotham Comedy Club. Legendary singer-dancer-actress Mitzi Gaynor, star of such films as South Pacific, Les Girls, Anything Goes, and a longtime headliner in Las Vegas and the nightclub circuit, making her first NY night club appearance in years in May at Feinstein's at Loews Regency, will be honored with the Bob Harrington Lifetime Achievement Award. Elaine Stritch, the uniquely sensational actress and singer and star of stage, film, and TV, will be recognized in the category of Extraordinary Cabaret Artist, noting her recent conquests of the cabaret stage.

Diversionary Theatre will end its run of Stephen Karam's Speech and Debate as the fifth show of their 2009-2010 season on April 11th.

The Musical Of Musicals (The Musical!) plays the DUPAC April 16, 17, and 18, 2010. The show is written by Joanne Bogart and Eric Rockwell, and directed by Krista Hansen.

La MaMa invites you to the World Premiere of playwright/performer Richard Sheinmel's POST MODERN LIVING. The production marks the latest installment in Sheinmel's Modern Living play cycle, which began in 2006.

Lyricist Richard Engquist died on Thursday in Brooklyn at the age of 76. According to his wife, Jane E. Brody, he died from lung cancer.

Up next for The New Group is the new musical The Kid, beginning performances on Friday, April 16. Official Opening Night is set for Monday, May 10. This marks the final production in The New Group's current 2009-2010 season, which featured Kenneth Lonergan's The Starry Messenger and most recently, the hit revival of Sam Shepard's A Lie of the Mind, directed by Ethan Hawke.

Evanston's Next Theatre Company will end its production of Return to Haifa by Evanston-based playwright M.E.H. Lewis which is directed by Next's Artistic Director, Jason Southerland, on March 21.
