The world-wide smash hit (and winner of the 2009 Tony Award for Best Musical) comes to Toronto this month and BWW is on hand to bring you extensive coverage. Over the next few weeks we will be speaking with various cast members and providing photos and interviews of all things Billy! First up is Kate Hennig, who played the role of Mrs. Wilkinson on Broadway and now gets to come home to Canadian with the Toronto production.

Kicking off its 20th Anniversary, Deaf West Theatre puts its own, unique spin on the classic story of a mischievous puppet who wishes to become a real, live boy. Using a mix of deaf and hearing actors, Stephen Rothman directs The Adventures of Pinocchio, a commedia dell arte adaptation of Carlo Collodi's 1883 novel by Lee Hall that brims with clever political subtext and sly social commentary. Deaf West's retelling of Pinocchio's treacherous journey through childhood opens February 25 at Deaf West Theatre in North Hollywood's NoHo Arts District, with two low-priced previews on February 17 and 18. (The Adventures of Pinocchio is rated 'PG' for mild language and dark themes - recommended for ages 10 and up.)

Former Patrons File 4M Lawsuit Against BILLY ELLIOT for 2009 Injuries

The New York Post reports today that two former patrons of BILLY ELLIOT have filed a 4 million dollar law suit against the production in reposonse to injuries they suffered as a result of a prop accident in 2009. Kansas City residents Elaine Rosen and Cynthia Noblit were sitting in the front row at the November 23, 2009 performance, when a plastic crate accidentally fell from the stage directly onto them. It is unclear if the crate fell out of the hands of an actor or was accidentally kicked into the audience by a performer.
