2018 Tribeca Film Festival Unveils TRIBECA IMMERSIVE PROGRAM

The Tribeca Film Festival, presented by AT&T, has been the premier curator of cutting-edge interactive storytelling for more than a decade. The 2018 Tribeca Immersive program showcases works by artists who are pushing boundaries, using technology to tell stories and create new experiences. The Virtual Arcade lineup, presented by AT&T, includes 21 world premiere VR/AR exhibits as well as five Storyscapes experiences in competition. The program takes place at the Tribeca Festival Hub from April 20-28. A new addition to Tribeca Immersive is Tribeca Cinema360, a VR theater featuring four curated screening programs of 360° mobile content, running April 21-28. The 17th annual Tribeca Film Festival takes place April 18-29, 2018.

Grand Theatre Presents A THOUSAND SPLENDID SUNS In Association With San Francisco's American Conservatory Theater

The Grand Theatre is thrilled to announce a first-time collaboration with the American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.), bringing A THOUSAND SPLENDID SUNS to the Spriet Stage. This acclaimed stage adaptation, based on the award-winning novel by Khaled Hosseini, had its world premiere in San Francisco in July 2016 and became the bestselling production in A.C.T.'s history. The Grand's production will premiere an all new, all Canadian cast with original staging by A.C.T. Artistic Director Carey Perloff. 'Nick Mauss: Transmissions' To Open At The Whitney

For his first solo museum show in the United States, artist Nick Mauss (b. 1980) will present Transmissions, an exhibition conceived for the Whitney, which explores the reciprocal relationship of modernist ballet and the avant-garde in New York from the 1930s through '50s. The exhibition-which features daily dance performances in the Whitney's eighth-floor Hurst Family Galleries-goes on view March 16.

Abramorama and Bert Marcus Productions will debut the definitive electronic dance music film, WHAT WE STARTED, at the Regal Cinemas SOUTH BEACH 18 on Lincoln Road in Miami, Florida on March 22nd during ULTRA, the world's premiere electronic music festival. The Kitchen presents an exhibition and series of performances from time-transcending Afrofuturist musical experimenter and multidisciplinary artist Camae Ayewa, aka Moor Mother. Using soundscape installation, film, collage, and poetry, Ayewa showcases the creative process of her upcoming second Moor Mother album, Analog Fluids of Sonic Black Holes, and its instrumental accompaniment, Sublime Methods of Spiritual Machines, which investigate the idea that every shadow has a history. Her work speaks about ancestral temporality and the embodiment of what remains and lingers: what takes shape and holds in the shadows of the physical world.

In a special Valentine's Day surprise, New York underground legends Oneida have shared a new track from their upcoming album Romance. “Good Lie,” an exploratory track foregrounding hypnotic synth interplay, premiered this morning along with an interview on Dangerous Minds. “Good Lie” showcases the massive scope of Romance, which shows Oneida exploring a multitude of approaches to psychedelic music, from long-form freakouts to compact, tightly wound songs. “Good Lie” builds layers of electronics that crest into a stately climax of interlocking rhythms and pulses of static.

Abramorama to Globally Release CONCERT FOR GEORGE Beginning 2/20

Abramorama, in association with Concord Music, announced today (2/8) they will present a special limited theatrical run of Concert for George, remastered in 5.1 Stereo Surround Sound beginning February 20, 2018. February 25th marks what would have been George Harrison's 75th birthday. Due to an overwhelming response from theaters in North America, the film has already been booked into more than 75 theaters in the U.S. and Canada, with the list growing daily. The International roll-out of the film will be announced next week. 

State of the Arts NYC Will Present the Renaissance Revival Chorus for a Concert

In honor of both Black History Month and Women's History Month, State of the Arts NYC will bring the Renaissance Revival Chorus that sang at the Grammys with the artist Kesha, to their Brooklyn studio at WBAI FM Radio for a LIVE performance, February 23rd. The Chorus is a collective of more than 60 women who came together to bring protest songs to present day movements.

Mia Opens Dramatic Exhibition Designed by Robert Wilson

The Minneapolis Institute of Art (Mia) has collaborated with celebrated theatre director and visual artist Robert Wilson to organize a first-of-its-kind exhibition highlighting the drama, rituals, and opulence of the Qing Empire, the last imperial dynasty of China. Wilson has created an immersive, experiential environment to display rare court costumes, jades, lacquers, bronzes, gold ornaments, paintings, and sculpture from Mia's renowned collection of Chinese art. Power and Beauty in China's Last Dynasty: Concept and Design by Robert Wilson, presented by Sit Investment Associates, is curated by Liu Yang, Mia's Curator of Chinese Art. The exhibition, which opened on February 3, will run through May 27, 2018.

The San Francisco-based, Grammy-winning Kronos Quartet / Kronos Performing Arts Association (KPAA) presents its fourth annual hometown music festival Kronos Festival 2018. With six concerts over three days, Kronos Festival 2018 illustrates one of the group's central artistic tenets: collaboration. After Kronos performed at NPR Music's 10th anniversary concert last month, NPR Music's Tom Huizenga wrote, 'Collaboration. It's in the DNA of the intrepid Kronos Quartet, which some 40 years ago began working with composers around the globe to spotlight new music.'

Stephen Petronio Company Announces Nora Chipaumire, Will Rawls, and Kathy Westwater as Inaugural Artists of the Petronio Residency Center

In December 2016, Stephen Petronio Company purchased Crow's Nest, a 175-acre property in the Catskill Mountains. This bold act not only secures the Company's legacy but also aims to provide a creative home for dance via the Petronio Residency Center, whose first round of residencies the Company is proud to announce today. The inaugural recipients are Nora Chipaumire, Will Rawls, and Kathy Westwater, whose residencies will take place between July-October, 2018. Each artist has been awarded a one-week residency that includes exclusive use of the 9,000 sq. ft. facilities for up to 9 individuals, a $5,000 stipend, and up to $1,500 for travel assistance. This rare and fully-funded opportunity includes room, board, and meals prepared on-site by a chef from locally-sourced ingredients.
